Disassembly and assembly of the cylinder components of the service



Removing and installing the crankshaft and the connecting rod and piston assembly can be performed without removing the engine from the car.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the engine (see. Section Removal and engine installation).
  2. Remove the cylinder head (see. Section Maintenance of the cylinder head and camshaft components).
  3. Remove the oil pump (see. Section Removal and installation of the oil pan).
  4. Remove the pan and flywheel / drive plate (see. Sections Dismantling and assembling cylinder block, service components and Refitting the oil cooler).
  5. Remove the rear oil seal with a lid (see. Section Removal and installation of lubricators).
  6. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the crankshaft bearing caps to the collection with inserts.
  7. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the bottom head first rod assembly to the liner. Uprites in the head of a rod and a hammer handle, pushing the connecting rod and piston assembly up and remove it from the cylinder.
  8. Operating in a similar manner, remove the remaining assembly.
  9. In order to prevent confusion when checking the status of the components immediately set to their former places of covers of rods and the crankshaft bearing assembly with insert and secure them with fixing bolts.
  1. With inertial puller remove the pin installed in the rear of the crankshaft pilot bearing.

Service

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully review the status of the casting unit. Check each cylinder for cracks, burrs, and other mechanical damage.
  1. Acting in a manner similar to that described in Section Maintenance of the cylinder head and camshaft components, evaluate the degree of impairment of the flatness of the mating surface of the cylinder head unit. If necessary, replace the unit.

Restoration of the flatness of the surface of the mating block by machining it in any case is not admissible!

  1. Bullies cylinder bores can be machined to the corresponding repair size, if such a treatment is not possible, replace the unit.
  1. Measure the diameter of each of the cylinders on three levels and two directions that will reveal defects such as taper and roundness. The results record. By subtracting the maximum results from minimum determine the degree of wear of the cylinder, and if it exceeds the limit (see. Specifications of the Head of engine), the cylinders should be chiseled to the nearest repair size.   2. Remove the retaining ring, remove the piston pins and make the dismantling of pistons with rods.
  3. Examine the condition of the piston, in the case of detection of cracks, burrs, and other mechanical damage, prepare a replacement.
  4. Measure the diameter of each piston in a direction perpendicular to the piston pin axis and at a distance of 19 mm from the lower edge of the skirt. By comparing the measurement result with the value of the diameter of the corresponding cylinder, determine the value of the landing backlash. If the play exceeds the limit, replace the piston cylinder is machined to the nearest repair size.
1 - Check the size

Simultaneously, the piston must be replaced as piston rings (the corresponding repair size - see. Specifications of the Head of Engine).

  1. Check the piston rings for signs of excessive wear, cracks, chips and other mechanical damage. If necessary, replace.
  1. Alternately tucking the piston rings into the cylinder and pushing them to the bottom of the piston to the bottom of the latter (BDC position of the piston), measure the magnitude of backlash in the lock ring. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications of the Head of engine, if necessary, chisel locks, or replace the rings.
  1. Measure the backlash of landing rings in the grooves of the piston, if necessary, replace the ring / piston.

Measurement should be performed at several points of the perimeter of the groove. Since then, the rings must be "attached" to their piston / cylinder.


  1. At a special stand believe rods for signs of bending and twisting. If you exceed the measurements the limit value, replace defective components.
  1. By measuring the corresponding diameter of the piston pin and bushing top heads of rods determine backlash planting fingers in the sleeves. If you exceed the results of computing the limit value, replace worn bushings.
  2. Squeezing the sleeve is carried out using a mandrel diameter of 27 ÷ 27.5 mm.
  3. Before pressing in the new bushing and lubricate the rod clean motor oil. Track correctness of combination of oil holes. After pressing develop sleeve scan to the nominal value of the internal diameter.

  1. Carefully review the state of the crankshaft. Check it out root and crankpins for scoring, signs of overheating and other mechanical damage. Make sure that there are no violations patency oil holes.
  1. Having laid the shaft prism, check for bending using the meter DTI.
  1. Measure the diameters of the necks, estimate the value of their taper and roundness. If deterioration of necks exceeds the limit, pierce them at the closest repair size (do not forget to choose the appropriate size ear reconstruction), or replace the shaft.

In no case did not cut the necks of the fillet (see. - the minimum allowable radius of curvature of 2.6 ÷ 3 mm.


  1. Examine the condition of bearings. In case of defects, prepare a replacement kit. Arrange shells in order of their installation on the engine.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before assembly, make sure of absoluteness of cleanliness of all components.
  1. Heat the piston to a temperature of 50 ÷ 70 ?� C. Grease the connecting rod sleeve and holes in the tide of the piston with clean oil, then season with the piston in one of the retaining rings. Get into the piston rod and secure the piston pin and install second retaining ring, - Ensure correct location relative to each other the oil hole in the rod and mark ?�F?� on the piston. Operating in a similar manner, mount all connecting rod and piston assembly.
  1. Put on the pistons, piston rings previously selected first in the bottom groove of the piston expander oil ring is installed, and then the plant its working sessions. Further, in the remaining grooves are filled with the lower and upper compression ring (do not confuse the ring - they differ in shape cross-section), - track correctness of placing rings.

Rings should be installed marked with letter ?�Y?� side up.

  1. Expand the piston rings on fitting locks in these areas.

  1. Carefully thread the connecting rod and piston assembly into its cylinders: piston wall and mirrors of cylinders before installation should be lubricated with clean motor oil, piston rings compress special mandrel; pushing the pistons in the cylinders is better to make the handle of a hammer. Make sure that the pistons have been established labels in the form of letters ?�F?� forward on the engine.

In the event of resistance, stop pushing the plunger, remove the assembly and ensure the completeness of the removal of step deterioration in the upper part of the cylinder!

  1. Put the cylinder block Lubricators and tighten bolts of their fastening with demanded effort
    (12 ÷ 18 Nm).
  2. Carefully wipe the neck of the crankshaft main bearing shells back and the bed in the unit completely removing traces of oil from them. Insert liners and install the shaft.
  3. Once again, wipe the main journals of the shaft, lay along them Gauging Plastic Plastigage set out to define the working backlashes in bearings.

Make sure that the wire is laid over the oil holes necks!

  1. Wipe the back of the bearing shells and bed covers, then install the latest, having tracked correctness of placement and, acting strictly in a certain order, tighten bolts of their fastening with demanded effort.

  1. Release the fasteners, remove the cap and measure the width of the flattened wire on the scale printed on the box set Plastigage, determine the value of backlashes in radical bearings.

During the test, do not turn the crankshaft! If the measurement exceeds the limit, make a new selection of inserts, if necessary, to pierce the shaft and install oversize repair the ear.


  1. Having finished check, lubricate working surfaces matched inserts and indigenous shaft neck clean motor oil, put the shaft in the block. Put the assembly the central main bearing persistent half rings of worktops to the cheeks crank shaft.
  1. Install the crankshaft bearing caps, push the shaft forward until it stops, then turn it back and tighten the cover bolts with demanded effort.
  1. Check the axial play of the crankshaft and the freedom of its rotation. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications of the Head of engine, if necessary, pick up a new persistent half rings.

Replace the front half-rings should be made only if the selection back to rectify the situation fails.


  1. Using a suitable mandrel, put a pin on the back of the shaft guide bearing - do not forget to lubricate the bearing and the pin of the motor oil. After installing tamp bearing grease.
  1. By planting the lower head of rods to the crank pin shaft, make a measurement of working backlashes in connecting rod bearings - act in a manner similar to that described above for the main bearings. Remember that when checking bearing shells must be installed on the dry, track correctness arrangement covers.

  1. With the probe blade-type metering make the axial backlash of rods. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications of the Head of engine, if necessary, replace the respective connecting rods.
  1. Finally, the connecting rod cap (lubricated bearing surfaces with oil), - track correctness of combination of landing labels and tighten bolts of their fastening with demanded effort.

The threaded portion of bolts and nuts before tightening should also lubricate the clean motor oil.

  1. Further installation is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components.
