Visual inspection for oil leaks
| - When covered with engine oil and high oil consumption should be checked, where oil acts. To do this, check the following locations:
- Open the filler cap and check the seal for damage and cracks.
- Check tightness of ventilation hose from the filler cap to the air filter.
- Gasket cylinder head cover.
- Cylinder head gasket.
- The connection between the flange of the distributor of ignition.
- The gasket of the oil filter: The filter on the flange.
- Oil drain plug (gasket).
- Gasket oil pan.
- The connection between the engine and gearbox (lining on the flywheel shaft or gearbox).
- Since leaking oil spreads over a large area, once the leak is difficult to detect. Searching proceeds as follows:
- Make cleaning the engine. Cover the engine cold cleaner and after a while rinse water. Pre-cover generator and distributor of plastic bags.
- Sprinkle the joints and seals in the engine outside talc or lime.
- Check oil level, top up if necessary.
- Perform a test drive. Since the oil thins when heated and so quickly emerges in places of leaks should perform a test drive at a distance of 30 km on the highway.
- Then, lighting the lamp drive, locate the leak and repair.
