Check and replace the ignition coils
Models 1993 and 1994 Vol.
CHECK | | 1. With the ignition off, disconnect the wiring from the coil. Connect an ohmmeter between the terminals of the primary circuit connector. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. Faulty coil must be replaced. |
| 2. Do not switch on the ignition, connect an ohmmeter between the BB (which is connected to the wire from the distributor cap) and the positive terminal of the coil. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. Faulty coil must be replaced. |
|
|
REPLACEMENT | 1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery. | If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action! 2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the coil. |
3. Disconnect BB excuse coming from the distributor cap. | 4. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the coil from the engine. |
5. Install in the reverse order. | Before installing the coil must be connected to the wiring connector of the spark plugs (lubricate the inner walls of the protective cover of the dielectric silicone grease). |

|
Models from 1995 MY. CHECK | | 1. With the ignition off, disconnect the wiring from the coil. Connect the positive probe ohmmeter to terminal number 1, number 2 negative -klemme coil connector. The device should show infinity. Change the polarity of the meter - this time there should be a conductivity (but not zero resistance). At negative results of check replace the coil. |
2. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal explosive wires (going to the spark plug) and the plug ? 1. The meter should register infinite resistance, otherwise replace the coil. 3. In a similar manner, check the condition of the remaining coils spark plugs. Replace defective components. |
