Start system - the general information and precautions
The system provides cranking for the purpose of launching it. The main components of the system are starter mounted with the traction relay, locking relay, battery, ignition switch and connecting wiring.
The starter circuit included blocking relay that when you turn the ignition key to the START position is supplying power from the battery of the control circuit on the launch of the traction relay of a starter. The traction relay switches the battery power directly to the electric starter. The motor starts to rotate while turning over the flywheel / drive disc crankshaft. Locking relays placed in the mounting block, located in the engine compartment of the car (see chap. Onboard electric equipment). Assembling the starter with the traction relay mounted on the dome of the transmission.
On models with AT control circuit operation of the starter switch is turned on sensor start authorization, which prevents the ability to start the engine in transmission other than the "P" and "N". On models with engine start Manual transmission becomes possible only when the depressed clutch that is controlled by a sensor-tripping circuit breaker starter.
When performing any work on the components of the system startup Observe the following special precautions:
a) Remember that excessively long cranking the engine can lead to serious damage to the motor from overheating the last. Never use the starter motor continuously for longer than 15 seconds, after which it should be allowed to cool for a minute or two; b) Do not forget that the starter motor is connected directly to the battery, and rough handling that, as a result of overloads and short circuits, making it likely the possibility of arcing, in turn fraught with ignition wiring; c) carrying out any work on the components of the system start-up, without fail, disconnect the negative cable from the battery - remember that if installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery to be sure in the knowledge of the correct combination for audiosystem input in action!
