Axle, rear wheel bearing and oil seal - removal and installation.



Withdrawal
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheels.
3. Remove the brake drum (chapter 10)
4. Disconnect the parking brake cable and pipe hydraulic drive (chapter 10)
5. Remove the nut brake shield.
6. Remove the axle shaft assembly with brake (photo). If you get your hands on the half-line fails, you must use a shock stripper with an adapter, which is mounted on the wheel studs.
7. Pry up and remove the outer seal (see photo). Oil seal should be changed every time when removing the axle shaft. New press in the oil seal mandrel of suitable diameter.
8. Xpress bearing axis. This operation is recommended to perform in the service station, as required puller or a press. If these prisposoleniya available, proceed as follows.

9. Bend the prongs lock washer nut bearing (photo).
10. Remove the bearing nut crowfoot wrench (photo), which tighten the axle shaft in a vise through the soft prorate.
11. Using a press or puller, remove the axle shaft from the bearing and brake shield.
12. Knock seal from the bearing shell (oil seal must be replaced).
13. When the outer race of the bearing is damaged, replace the bearing. To do this, knock out the clip from the shell with a brass beard (photo).

Setting
14. The mandrel of suitable diameter in the press in new shaft seal the bearing shell. Grease the sealing lips of oil seal with grease.
15. Carefully press in the outer ring of the bearing with a hammer on a brass mandrel.

17. With the help of a brass mandrel gently press in bearing.
18. Install the ring and lock washer, properly orient and tighten the nut bearing.

20. Apply grease to the bearing bore and at the end of the rear axle.
21. Lubricate the splines of the half-line gear oil, apply grease to the sealing lips of the oil seal.
22. Establish all removed shims (photo).
23. If removed, both the half-line, set one of them. Measure the longitudinal play the half-line (photo), which should be 0.3-0.9 mm. If the clearance is not correct, adjust, and remove the axle shaft for and add or remove shims (thickness gaskets specified product).
24. Install the second semi-axis (if removed), and adjust the play selection pads.
25. Next, the assembly is done in reverse order.
