Replacing brake pads on the rear drum brakes



The brake pads on the rear drum brakes

1 - Front;
2 - a bolt;

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the rear side of the car and fix on supports.
2. Remove the rear wheels.
3. Remove the dust cap.
4. Small chisel unbend a fillet and turn away a nut.

A warning

Be careful not to damage the groove and thread on the end of the shaft.


5. Remove from the axis of the brake drum, a washer and bearings as an assembly. If it is difficult to remove a brake drum, push the brake pads.

6. Remove the front and rear brake pads and terminals on the back of a brake board, remove the rack supporting the brake pads.
7. Remove the rear brake pads assembly.
8. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the back of the brake pad.

9. Remove the tube from the working brake cylinder.

10. Remove the bolt of the brake cylinder.

11. Remove the spring debounce.
12. Remove the expander bar after removal of the return spring.
13. Remove the parking brake lever.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the brake drums for cracks, grooves, or uneven wear.
2. If necessary, chisel or replace the brake drum.
3. Measure the inner diameter of the brake drum.

4. Replace the brake drum if the inner diameter of the drum exceeds the limit.

The maximum diameter of 201 mm


A warning

Check the uniformity of fit brake pad to the brake drum.


5. Check the brake linings for contamination with oil or grease, deterioration and cracks.
6. Measure the thickness of the rear brake pads. Replace all the brake pads on the same axle of a vehicle, even if only one block has a thickness less than the maximum allowable.

Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clean the brake board.
2. Grease for brake grease the points of contact of brake pads to the brake shield and the wheel cylinder.

A warning

Avoid getting grease on the brake pads.


3. Set the working brake cylinder on the brake shield.
4. Connect the brake line to the wheel cylinders.
5. Set the parking brake lever. Coat mating surfaces and adjust the rack position of the lever.
6. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
7. Install the brake pad assembly to the working brake cylinder.
8. On the reverse side of the brake shield, set the rack and secure with clips on them brake pads.
9. Install the adjustment bar to the fully released position.

10. Insert a screwdriver against the cam controller and move it to the released position.

11. Install the brake drum, the washer and the bearing axle.
12. Repeatedly press the brake pedal to activate the automatic gap adjusting device brake pads into position.
13. Screw a new nut. Score a nut fillet into a groove axis.
14. Install the dust cap.
