Connect a voltmeter between the positive and negative terminal of the battery.
Start the engine. When starting voltage must not fall below 8 (at an ambient temperature of + 20 ? C).
Increase the number of turns to 2000 rev / min. The voltage should be 14.1 - 14.7 V. This indicates that the alternator and the regulator work. The generator voltage must be higher than the battery voltage to the battery is recharged while driving.
Check the stability of adjustment. To do this, turn on the high beam and repeat the measurement at 2000 rev / min. The measured voltage is not more than 0.4 V above the previously measured value.
If the measured values lie outside the acceptable limits, check the generator in the workshop.
