MAZDA 323 is equipped with an alternator. Depending on the model and equipment can be installed generator capacity of 55 A or 65 A power specified on the label generator.

When installing additional equipment should be checked if there is enough power generator of the former, if necessary, install a more powerful generator and the battery. The generator is driven by the crankshaft via the V-belt. In the diesel engine on the shaft of the generator additionally installed brake booster vacuum pump. Generator rotor with an excitation winding rotates within a stationary stator winding with a number of revolutions twice the crankshaft speed. As carbon brushes and slip rings the excitation current flowing through the field winding. This creates a magnetic field.

The position of the magnetic field relative to the stator winding changes continuously in accordance with the rotation of the rotor. Due to this the stator winding is produced by an alternating current.

Because the battery can be charged only with direct current, alternating current is converted to DC rectifier diode board. The voltage regulator changes the charging current on and off the field current in accordance with the degree of charging of the battery. Simultaneously, the controller maintains a constant voltage of the battery 14, irrespective of the number of revolutions.
