Relay test

In many current loops are incorporated relays. Switching relay works as a switch. For example: When the main beam is switched on via manual switch, the relay receives a command file for headlight high beam current. You can, of course, apply current from the battery to the bulb directly through the manual switch. All electricity consumers with high amperage (main beam headlamps, windshield wipers, fog lamps) included relay to not overload switch and provide power for the shortest path. Along with switching relays are also functional relay, for example windscreen-wiper systems, or signal relay switching external lighting.

Checking switching relays

When the corresponding user on the relay is the control signal, which means the magnetic coil in the relay pulls contact and closes the loop "operating current". Operating current flows through the relay to the user more.

The easiest way to check the serviceability of the relay, replacing it with a known-good. So come to the workshops. Since the fans are very rarely available in good spare relay, recommended next step is the so-called switching relay, which among other things is used to turn fog and main lights.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the relay from the mount.
  2. Turn on the ignition and relevant switch.
  3. First, using a voltage indicator to determine whether the voltage applied to the positive terminal of the respective relay socket. To do this, connect the indicator to the mass and other contact gently inserted into the terminal. If the LED indicator lights up, a voltage is applied. If the indicator showed no voltage, check the wiring for an open on the battery positive pole of the battery to the terminals on the circuit.
  4. Produce a jumper from a piece of insulated wire, the ends should be stripped.
  5. Connect this jumper in the relay socket terminal plus the battery, which is constantly voltage to the output relay. It's almost the same as the insert in good relay. Location of terminals in the relay socket can be identified by the colors of cables under the scheme.
  6. If the jumper is inserted, for example, the high beam lights, then the relay is faulty.
  7. If the high beam lights up, to determine properly whether the connection with the mass of lights. Next, check for broken wire from the relay to the spotlight on the basis of the scheme.
  8. If you want to insert a new relay.
