Check thickness / lateral palpation of a brake disk
| - Machining of brake discs is not allowed. In the presence of the grooves 0.5 mm deep and heavy wear disc must be replaced. Thus always replace both discs on one axis.
- Mark the position of the disc relative to the hub wheel to balance the wheel could be established in former position.
- Loosen the wheel nuts standing on the ground of the car.
- Lift the front of the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel.
- Cars since 10/89 vol., Except models "versatile: Screw the two wheel nuts to the brake disk correctly centered.
| - Measure the thickness of the brake disc. In the workshops for this purpose, a special gauge or a micrometer, as because of the wear on the brake disc edge is formed. The thickness of the disc can also be measured with a caliper usual, but on each side of the disc should put a shim of known thickness. To determine the exact thickness of the disc from the obtained value should be subtracted total thickness of gaskets.
|
 | The measurement is performed at several points in the disc. |
- If you wear limit is reached, the brake disc must be replaced. Border wear see. Section Specifications of brake system
- In the presence of large cracks and grooves deeper than 0.5 mm, the brake disc must be replaced.
| - If there is a dial gauge, measure the lateral runout of the brake disk in the mounted state. Set the indicator to the outer edge. Required value: the maximum lateral runout of 0.1 mm. Excessive lateral runout can be caused by a broken bearing hub, to check the address to the workshop.
|
- If necessary, unscrew the wheel nuts.
- Screw wheel, given the label on the hub. Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise with torque of 100 Nm.
