- Brake booster should check if the brake must be applied to the brake pedal force is unusually large.
- Squeeze the brake pedal at least 5 times with the engine off, and then start the engine with the pedal depressed. The pedal should leave significantly down. In this case, the braking power works normally. If not, check for leaks.
- Otherwise, remove the vacuum hose on the brake booster, start the engine. Attach a hose to the end of a finger and check the vacuum with the engine running.
- If the vacuum is not: Check the vacuum hose for leaks and damage and replace if necessary. Tighten all hose clamps.
- The diesel engine: Remove the hose from the vacuum pump and check your finger, if there is a vacuum in the socket.
- If the vacuum is applied: Measure the low pressure, if necessary, replace the brake booster (performed in the workshop).
 | Thus always replace the check valve in the vacuum line, as the membrane in the brake booster may be damaged by penetrating fuel vapors (with faulty check valve). |
