Cylinder Head

Bolts cylinder head

Remove the cylinder head only when the engine cooling. The exhaust and intake manifolds are connected.

Defective gasket cylinder head is recognized by the following features:

- Loss of power;
- Leakage of coolant, exhaust gas is white when the engine is warm;
- oil leak;
- The coolant in the engine oil, the oil level decreases and increases;
- Grey engine oil, pieces of foam on the dipstick, the oil liquid;
- Engine oil in the coolant;
- Coolant strongly rages;
- No compression in two adjacent cylinders.

Withdrawal
PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Prepodnimite bonnet.
2. Disconnect the "weight" of the battery (-).
A warning

When disconnecting the battery wears anti-theft code for the radio. For instructions, see. In section 14.1.7.

3. Remove the cylinder head.
4. Remove coolant thermostat (thermostat).
5. Remove the two screws with a diameter of 8 mm (1) on both sides of the front cover (23). The back cover are handling sleeve.
6. Remove the screws (2) (the thread diameter of 6 mm).
7. Remove the cover (23), with the trace of the O-ring between the cover and the cylinder head. Clean the sealing surfaces.
8. Remove the inlet pipeline (19) from the cylinder head and set aside with the wiring.
9. Remove the bracket (2) of the crankshaft position sensor on the rear cylinder head.
10. Disconnect the air hoses (6) at the bottom of the cylinder head.
11. Disconnect plug connection for lambda probe (in the battery).
12. Remove the dipstick guide tube in the cylinder head. With automatic transmission also unscrew the guide tube of the sight device behind the cylinder head.
13. Lower cooling fluid including a crankshaft of the crankcase.
14. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
15. The engine capacity of 2.2 liters: rotate the camshaft way to the right in the direction of "spat" (late).
16. Install the engine at 20 ? after ignition TDC of the first cylinder and remove the chain tensioner.
17. Mark a paint position of the control circuit in relation to both the camshaft gear, causing the bar through a chain and sprocket.
18. Loosen the camshaft pulley outlet flange of the crankshaft.
19. The engine capacity of 2.0 liters: Unscrew the intake camshaft gear.
20. The engine capacity of 2.2 liters: holding the anchor (2) control the camshaft, unscrew a bolt collar (1). Remove the anchor from the control piston (18). Unscrew the nut (6).
21. Remove the control circuit.
22. The engine capacity of 2.2 liters: mark the position of the intake camshaft gear with respect to the shaft flange, having a paint stroke through both parts. Remove the cover (12), the intake camshaft gear (13), install the piston (14) and a spherical spring (14a). Remove the flange shaft (16).
23. Pull out with the help of a shock or a suitable puller tool guide pins (11).
24. Remove the four screws combined (A) between the upper and lower cover housing chain. Remove the cylinder head bolts in the reverse order of their numbering in the figure, t. E. The tenth to first. This requires attachment to a wrench, for example, HAZET 990 SLg-12 (see. Fig. Bolts cylinder head).
25. Lift the cylinder head. This can also be done using a crane, in vdev lugs corresponding cable or chain.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before assembling clean suitable scraper cylinder head and cylinder block of the hermetic rests. Make sure that these residues do not fall into the hole. To do this, cover the holes with a rag.
2. Check with a steel ruler cylinder head and engine block on the flatness of the longitudinal and transverse directions, if needed - modify (in the garage).
3. Check the cylinder head for cracks, and the working surface of the cylinder in the absence of scratches, scrapes.
4. Clean the bolt holes of the cylinder head from oil and other deposits.
5. Always replace the gasket cylinder head.
6. Put a new gasket without sealant so as not to have closed the hole.
7. Install the cylinder head. Before installing, make sure that the camshafts and the crankshaft are like when removing and not rotated.
A warning

Cylinder head centered in the cylinder block mounting pins.

8. Measure the length of the cylinder head bolts, which in new condition is 102 mm. When tightening the stick of that length. With a length of 105 mm, replace the cylinder head bolts.
9. Oil the thread of the cylinder head bolts and place them fit to the head of the unit, install bolts and tighten by hand.
10. Tighten the bolts of the cylinder head in sequence from 1 to 10 (see. Fig. Bolts cylinder head) in three stages.
A warning

Carefully tighten the cylinder head bolts. Before tightening the torque wrench to check the accuracy.

First, tighten the cylinder head bolts with a torque wrench in sequence from 1 to 10 to 55 Nm In the second stage all bolts 1 to 10 tighten a further 90 ? spanner. In the third step the bolts tighten the cylinder head 1 to 10 by 90 ? in the same direction as an open end wrench.
A warning

When tightening the cylinder head bolts, position the handle wrench along the engine and turn in one motion to install it across - to rotate by 90 ?.

11. Combined bolts (A) Cover control tightened to a torque of 20 Nm
12. Cover the guide pins sealant Mercedes N 002 989 00 20 10 or other suitable sealant and will drive.
