Checking / adjusting valve clearance
To compensate for the different thermal expansions in the switching mechanism must be a gap.
When the gap is too small, change the valve timing, compression worse, engine power drops, engine performance is uneven. In extreme cases, the valves may be damaged or could burn saddles and valves.
Too much clearance there are strong mechanical noise, change the valve timing, the engine due to insufficient filling of cylinders gives lower power operation of the engine is uneven.
Adjust the valves only achieve the desired result if the valve seal flawlessly, no unacceptable backlash in the guide and rod ends are knocked down.
Valve clearance must be checked and adjusted after repair, when a noise in the mechanism of distribution. As part of the maintenance check valve clearance is not required. The diesel engine of 2.0 liter has hydraulic tappets, which automatically selects the valve clearance. These engine valve clearance is not adjustable. When unusual noise in the mechanism of the valve should be checked hydropushers (performed in the workshop).
Valve clearance must be checked or adjusted in a warm engine, but it can be adjusted and the engine is cold. In this case, it must be checked in a warm engine.
Test conditions
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Start the engine and warm up until the temperature of the coolant reaches 80 ? -90 ? C. | 2. Stop the engine. | 3. For ease of operation, remove the spark kapilnye. | 4. Remove the cylinder head cover. | 5. Set the gearbox in neutral position, tighten a manual brake. | 6. Establish the piston of 1st cylinder TDC. | 7. Simultaneously, the TDC should 4th piston. Cylinders are considered to be from right to left. The cylinder 1 is located on the side of the engine belt. |
