Checking the valve guides

During repair work on the cylinder head with a leaky valve is insufficient to handle or replace the valve and seat. Also check the wear of valve guides. Especially important test for engines with high mileage. Worn guides do not guarantee the central landing valves and lead to a large consumption of oil. If the wear is too great, valve guides should be replaced (this is done in the studio).

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the valve.
2. Clean the valve guide cylindrical brush.
3. Enter the valve guide from the combustion chamber and measure the backlash valve moving from side to side. Luft valve must be measured parallel to the respective rocker since in this direction is greatest wear.
4. To check attach a steel ruler. In practice, there should be no gap. Limit value: 0.2 mm.
5. If there is a mic and nutrometr, you can measure the actual gap between the guide and valve stem.
6. If necessary, replace the guide (performed in the workshop).

A warning

In no case do not install again the guide of the same diameter.
