Checking and adjusting the brake pedal

Checks brake pedal

A - The gauge-switch of stoplights
B - Locknut
C - pusher
D - Locknut

The height of the pedal in the released position

Check

Measure the distance from the center of the pad to the pedal is released the engine compartment bulkhead. If the result is outside the permitted range (see. Specifications of the Head Brake system), make the appropriate adjustments.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect electroconducting from the gauge-switch of stoplights (A).
  2. Loosen the lock nut (B) and turning the gauge-switch (A), pull the plug on his pedal arm.
  3. Loosen the lock nut (D) and rotating the pusher (D), adjust the height of the pedal is released.
  4. Adjust the amount of pedal free travel (see. Below), then tighten the locknut (D) with demanded effort (23.5 ÷ 34.3 Nm).
  5. Turn the gauge-switch of stoplights (A) until you get to it easily pressed the plunger to the lever of the pedal. Tighten with demanded effort (13.7 ÷ 17.7 Nm) nut (B).
  6. Make sure of serviceability of operation of stoplights already under gentle squeezing of a pedal of a foot brake, - when you release the pedal brake lights must be turned off explicitly.

The amount of pedal free travel

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Several times depress the foot brake for the purpose of resetting the residual vacuum in the vacuum amplifier.
  2. Lightly pressing the pedal with your fingers, measure the stroke until the emergence of resistance. If the result is outside the permitted range (4 - 7 mm), make the appropriate adjustments.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Loosen the lock nut (D) and make an appropriate adjustment by rotating the push rod (A).
  2. Tighten the lock nut with demanded effort.

The height of the pedal depressed

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Depress the pedal with a force of 69 kgf and measure the height of its position on the floor panel. If the result is less than 117 mm, bleed the hydraulic path of brake system (see. Section pumping the brakes). If pumping the brakes does not remedy the situation, check the automatic regulators drum rear brakes (see. Section Service drum rear brakes).
