PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check axial play of the camshaft. Required value:
    • Engines OT, B6 (SOHC): 0, 04-0, 13 mm
    • Engines BP (SOHC): 0, 06-0, 20 mm
    • Engines BSE, B5, V6E: 0, 05-0, 18 mm
  2. If the values do not meet the requirements, replace the bearing plate, and possibly also the camshaft.
  1. Hold camshaft key, unscrew the bolt gear camshaft. Remove the gear if necessary to bring down the light blows of a rubber hammer.

To remove the camshaft gear carefully so as not to lose the guide pin.

  1. Unscrew the thrust plate and remove the camshaft through the hole of the distributor.
  1. Knock old camshaft oil seal using a punch.

This should not be damaged by the landing gland.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lubricate the landing site and the camshaft oil seal a small amount of engine oil. Carefully score the seal using the pipe of the same diameter in place. Score gland so that it is flush with the cylinder head.

Gland during installation not to warp.

  1. Lubricate the camshaft bearing all the places a small amount of engine oil.
  2. Carefully insert camshaft into the cylinder head through the hole of the distributor.

When retracted, the shaft should not warp. Carefully move in through the gland, so as not to damage the sealing lip.

  1. Install the camshaft so that the pressure plate can get in the groove of a cam. Screw the thrust plate with a force of 10 Nm.
  2. Insert the guide pin in the camshaft. Install the wheel of a cam so that the guide pin engages the groove.
  3. Hold the key to screw cam camshaft gear with a force of 60 Nm.

While holding the shaft as not to damage the cylinder head with a wrench.

  1. Check whether the cost of a crank and camshafts on labels ignition cylinder 1 and adjust if necessary. See Section Removal and installation of camshafts.
  1. Tighten bearing caps with a torque wrench in the specified sequence. Tightening should be carried out in two passes.
  • 1st pass: 15 Nm
  • 2nd pass: 25 Nm
  1. Clean the wheel of a cam of water and oil.
  2. To establish and pull the toothed belt, see. Section Removal and installation of a gear belt of engines VZ, B5, B6 (SOHC), BP (SOHC).
  3. If there is, install the cylinder head mechanical fuel pump, see chap. The power supply system, the carburettor, fuel injection system, Section Removal and installation / check of the fuel pump.
  4. If the engine is not equipped with hydraulic tappets, check valve clearance. See Section Checking / adjusting valve clearance.
  5. Install the cylinder head cover gasket. See Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head / replacement of the cylinder head gasket.
  6. Set the air filter, see chap. The power supply system, the carburettor, fuel injection system, Section Removal and installation of the air filter.
  7. Screw the battery holder with a torque of 20 Nm.
  8. Install the battery. See section Removing and installing the battery.

Removing the diesel engine 1, 7 l

With the removed gear belt wheel to rotate the camshaft must not otherwise be met with piston valves.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove toothed belt, see. Chapter diesel engine.
  2. Unscrew the rear casing of a gear belt.
  1. Remove the spring rocker arms.
  1. Marked rockers to when installing them can be installed in its place.
  2. Remove rocker arms from their seats.
  1. Check axial play of the camshaft. Desired value: 0, 02 - 0,18 mm. The maximum allowable axial play: 0, 20 mm. If this value is exceeded, it is necessary to replace the cam and possibly the cylinder head.
  1. Unscrew pressure plate -1-.
  1. Unscrew the support bracket 3 -2-lift camshaft with cam -3.
  2. Remove the front support bracket to the camshaft oil seal -4- and remove with a screwdriver.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lubricate the landing site and the camshaft oil seal a small amount of engine oil. Carefully score the seal using the pipe of the same diameter in place. Score gland so that it is flush with the cylinder head.

Gland during installation not to warp.

  1. Clean the contact surface support brackets from dirt and oil.
  1. Apply sealant to the mounting surface, for example, Hylomar.

On the oil hole sealant should not be applied.

  1. Install the camshaft with the support brackets.
  2. Tighten support bracket with a torque wrench from the inside out. Tightening is carried out in two passes.
  • 1st pass: 15 Nm
  • 2nd pass: 25 Nm
  1. Install the thrust plate and screw with a force of 10 Nm.
  2. Install rocker arms. Ensure that the levers correctly took their place.
  3. Insert the spring rocker arms.
  4. Establish a back casing of a gear belt and screw with a force of 10 Nm.
  5. Fit the key and a cam gear. To tighten bolts to hold the camshaft with a wrench. Torque: 50 Nm.
  6. Adjust the valve clearance. See Section Checking / adjusting valve clearance.
