Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
Depending on the model and execution MAZDA 323 can be equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS). Additional installation ABS impossible. Anti-lock braking system prevents the wheels from locking under heavy braking. Thus, at full braking the vehicle remains manageable. With the 4-speed sensors measure the speed of each wheel. On the basis of the signals of individual speed sensors electronic device calculates the average speed, which roughly corresponds to the vehicle speed. Comparing the rate of single wheel at an average speed of all wheels of the control unit determines the state of wheel slip and can set the time when the wheel close to locking. If the wheel is prone to blocking, ie. E. The brake fluid pressure in the corresponding caliper is too high in relation to the power of traction, the hydraulic system on the basis of a signal from the control unit maintains the fluid pressure constant. This means that the pressure no longer increases despite the pedal. If there is a threat of blocking within the brake pressure is reduced opening the exhaust valve, as long as the wheel again begins to accelerate, then the pressure is held constant again. The rear wheels are controlled together, the pressure in the system is determined by the rear wheel with the highest slip. If the wheel accelerates faster than a certain value, the pressure in the system increases again, however, is not greater than the total pressure of the whole system. This process is repeated for every wheel as long as the gas pedal is released, and the car will not be in a state close to a stop (2-3 km / h). Protective system provides automatic shutdown of ABS when it fails (eg, due to a cable break) or too low voltage (battery voltage is below 10.5 V). In this case, during the movement control lamp ABS. Conventional brake system is in service. Vehicle braking behaves as if he had no ABS. If during movement control lamp ABS, it means that the anti-lock system is disabled. | | |
| - Stop the vehicle, switch off and restart the engine.
- Check the battery voltage. If the voltage is below 10.5 volts, recharge the battery.
 | If at the beginning of the trip was burning control lamp ABS, and after a while went out again, this means that the first battery voltage was too low and then increased due to charging from the generator. |
- Check that the battery terminals are tight and have a perfect connection.
- Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheels, check the electrical wires of the speed sensors for external damage.
- ABS Further testing must be done in the workshop. The control unit detects the problem manifested and stores them in memory. The workshops can be considered MAZDA recorded fault memory via the diagnostic connector.
 | Before electric welding, disconnect the plug from the control unit. Disconnect the plug only when the ignition is switched off. |
