Removal and installation of the main brake cylinder

Assemble GTZ

1 - Cover tank
2 - Strainer
3 - Float
4 - The body of the tank
5 - grommet
6 - Integrated two-way pressure regulator (metering valve)
7 - The nut (8 ÷ 11 Nm)
8 - Return spring

9 - Spring Cap
10 - Piston with sealing lip
11 - Piston with sealing lip
12 - Lock the lid
13 - Assembling the primary piston
14 - Assembling the secondary piston
15 - models without ABS
16 - Models with ABS

The failed GTZ be replaced. Manufacturers do not recommend the attempt of the refurbishment of the main brake cylinder.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. The design of the master cylinder shown in the illustration.
3. Disconnect electroconducting from the gauge-switch of the brake fluid level.
4. Drain the tank from GTZ as many as possible of the liquid contained in it (use a syringe or a rubber bulb).
5. Place a cloth under the couplings and prepare caps or plastic bags to seal the open ends of the brake lines to prevent dirt entering the system.

Brake fluid is one of aggressive chemicals and in contact with the body panels destroys paint. Before proceeding with the procedures cover the wings and the panel front of the vehicle with special covers, or just old blankets. Use the special Allen wrench to loosen the nut cutting head choke nodes connected to the GTZ brake lines.

6. Gently pull out, detach the brake line from master cylinder fittings. Immediately plug the open ends of the tubes.

7. Release the two fixing nuts and separate the master cylinder from the brake booster assembly. Remove the cylinder from the stud bolts and remove it from the engine compartment (try not to spill the filling assembly of hydraulic fluid on the painted body panels). Remove and discard the old gasket on the block landing GTZ brake servo, - the assembly gasket must be replaced without fail.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installing the new GTZ must be pumped on the bench. For the convenience of boarding hold the flange of the cylinder in a vice with soft sponges. Further, both have manipulated the piston in the cylinder and observe the flow of the brake fluid is pushed through the outlet fitting.
2. Connect the discharge connection GTZ couple of tubes of special set for pumping (ask in shops of automobile accessories).
3. Fill the tank with fresh brake fluid demanded grade (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
4. Slowly push the piston into the cylinder (it's best to use a large Phillips screwdriver), - the air should start to come out of the pumping chamber into the reservoir. It is important that the ends of both tubes were completely immersed in the reservoir in the brake fluid to eliminate the possibility of air being sucked back into the cylinder when the piston is released.
5. Continue pumping until the tube is pushed out through the liquid is completely free of air bubbles.
6. Alternately, disconnect the tube, immediately sealing the open ends of the inlets. Close the tank lid GTZ.
7. Put the GTZ on the studs on the assembly of servo and while only by hand, tighten the fixing nut.
8. Screw in cylinder fittings, brake lines. Since the cylinder is not fixed permanently, its position can be adjusted slightly in order to facilitate the procedure screwing fittings - try not to strip the threads.
9. Tighten with demanded effort GTZ nuts, then tighten the couplings.
10. Fill the tank GTZ fresh brake fluid and bleed the hydraulic system (see. Section Bleeding brake system). For pumping GTZ car (if you have not done it on the bench) need the help of an assistant, who will manipulate the foot brake pedal. Ask the assistant to squeeze the pedal a few times, and then lock it in the down position. Loosen the flare nuts, releasing a mixture of air from the cylinder to the brake fluid. Repeat until the liquid is ejected is completely free of air bubbles. Operating in a similar manner, a second bleed nipple.

Keep a clean cloth to immediately remove traces of falling on the surface of the painted body of brake fluid.

11. Before operating the vehicle, make sure of serviceability of functioning of brakes.
