Replacement of boots of drum-type brake mechanisms of back wheels



PERFORMANCE ORDER

See. The warning at the beginning of Section Removal and installation of supports of disk brake!

Along with the replacement of the brake shoes should be made as replacement of their coupling and guide springs that are a result of continuous cyclic mechanical and thermal loads with time stretch / subside, stopping to develop the required force, which leads to tacking the brakes and accelerated wear of the drums.

1. Loosen the nuts of the rear wheels. Poddomkratte back of the car and establish it on props. Prop up the front wheel chock. Remove the wheels.
2. Release the parking brake. And remove the brake drums.

The drum must be removed from the hub loose enough in the case of difficulty, it gently Tap the hammer with soft brisk. If the drum is still not amenable to removal, should be overcome on its surface and brake shoes. Remove the brake shield rubber cover, insert a screwdriver into the opened hole and take it on the adjusting lever samoregulyatora asterisk. 3. Carefully clean the components of the mechanism of a brake dust using special tools.

4. Remove the hub assembly from the wheel bearing (see chap. Suspension and steering).

5. Remove the brake shoe guides the spring with their cups.

6. Pull the front shoe forward enough to put it out of engagement with the respective piston of the wheel cylinder and the anchor plate, then remove the bottom of the shoe return spring.

7. Pull back the rear shoe and release it from the second piston of the wheel cylinder.
8. Remove the assembly samoregulyatora (try to remember adjusting position of the assembly).
9. Remove the upper return spring from the front of the shoe and remove the latter from the brake.

10. Remove the upper return spring from the rear of the shoe.

11. Remove the drive cable from the parking brake actuator arm assembly to the rear of the shoe, remove the rear shoe.

12. Pulling the anthers of the pistons of the wheel cylinder, check the assembly for signs of leaks. If necessary, replace the cylinder (see. Section Removal and installation of wheel cylinders).

13. Clean the brake board a special compound, then grease with high temperature grease in contact with the surface portions of shoes.

14. Remove the retaining ring fastening the axis of the operating lever parking brake. Remove the lever and move it to a new rear shoe. Do not forget to enclose a lever washer and replace the snap ring.

15. Connect to the executive arm of the parking brake cable.

16. Install the assembly in the rear shoe brake board. Fill the hole anchor pin and attach the guide spring with a cup.

17. Clean the threads of a screw assembly of the regulator and lubricate it with high temperature grease. The same lubricant lubricate the end of the screw axis.

18. Thread the tip of the regulator in the return slot in the rear brake shoe assembly. Ensure that the control mechanism turned out to be deployed in the right way.

19. Install the front shoe and secure it with the spring guide. Make sure that the tips of the regulator assembly properly entered into engagement with both boots.

20. Install the return spring.

21. Before installing the drum should be checked for cracks, scoring, grooves, traces of overheating and other defects. If any serious damage, traces of which can not be eliminated by treatment with fine sandpaper drum, the drum must be given in the groove (in compliance with the maximum permissible diameter of the repair).

Composers of the present Management recommend to make a groove drums, regardless of their status in order to remove all kinds of defects and eliminate the roundness. If the groove of the drum can not be made without violating the requirements of the maximum allowable inner diameter (stamped on the drum), will have to make a replacement. If you make a drum groove is not possible, at least, carefully smooth out their work surfaces with fine sandpaper.

24. Several times brake the car at its movement both front and rear with a view to automatically adjust the brake (do not forget a few times and cocked the parking brake).
25. Before operating the vehicle, make sure of serviceability of functioning of brakes.
