Dismantling generator / replacing the carbon brushes

The carbon brushes wear down the generator is quite slow; on average, every 120,000 km. We recommend replacing the brush a bit earlier, this generator must be removed.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the generator.
  1. Heat the casing 50 ? - 60 ? C, hold for this soldering iron over the bearing housing 200 watts for 3 - 4 minutes.

If the bearing housing is not heated, the bearing can not be removed because the rear bearing and the rear mounting very tightly connected to each other.

  1. Unscrew and remove the three bolts through. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the stator and front bracket and separate the two parts.

Do not insert a screwdriver too deep, otherwise the stator can be scratched. The separation of parts to make sure that in the area of the rear bearing pops compressed spring.

  1. Carefully hold the rotor in a vise and unscrew the central bolt of the pulley. Remove the pulley with the impeller and the remote bush.
  2. Unscrew the back cover of the generator rectifier.
  3. Separate the rear mounting and the stator from each other.
  1. Unsolder cable from the stator winding of the rectifier, while keeping the terminal pliers to remove heat from the rectifier. Do not hold a soldering iron for more than 5 seconds.
  1. Replace carbon brushes when the wear limit is reached (the length of 8 mm or less). For this vypayat contacts.
  1. Check the wear on the rotor slip rings, replace if necessary.
  2. Check the ease of movement of both the rotor bearings. replace if necessary. The rear bearing is pressed, the press needs to replace.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Insert the brush holders and spring and solder contacts. Speakers areas to cut. This solder wire so that the boundary line brush wear was opposite end of the brush holder 2 - 3 mm in front.
  1. To when soldering brushes are not new rose solder bumps, squeeze the brush contact with pliers.

Because knobby contacts become stiff brush and become unfit for consumption.

  1. After installation, check the smooth running of the new brushes in the holders.
  2. Solder the cable to the stator plate of the rectifier, the rectifier is not overheating.
  3. Set on the rotor rear housing and connect.
  4. Install the front bearing plate with distance sleeve and the sleeve collar.
  1. Install the impeller with a pulley and spring washer and tighten the nut to 60 Nm.
  1. Attach thrust spring in the cam groove of the rear bearing. The projecting portion of the spring should thus enter into the deepest part of the groove. The edge of the groove in the deepest part of a chamfer.

Be sure to follow the correct position of the thrust of the spring, as because of this reduced protrusion of the spring relative to the slot, which facilitates the assembly. In addition, the spring is not so strongly loaded and thus increased impact resistant.

  1. Before installation, bend the wire connecting the rectifier, so they do not touch the rotor. Insert finger brushes in the brush holders, inserted in a hole of the rear bearing wire (diameter 2 mm, length 40 - 50 mm), keeping thereby the brush down.
  1. Assemble the generator housing, heating pre-mount soldering. See section
  2. Unscrew the housing 3 through bolts.

Remove the wire holding the brush out of the hole behind the generator.

  1. Make sure that the generator is rotated freely by hand.
  2. Install the generator.
  3. Connect the earth cable to the battery.
  4. If available, set the clock and set the security code radio.
