Check and adjust the engine speed of the engine idling and the quality of the air-fuel mixture
The frequency of rotation of the crankshaft of the engine idling is a criterion of the engine as a whole and its systems. To measure the speed of the crankshaft of the engine idling is necessary to use a tachometer. Wiring is different for different manufacturers, so it is necessary to follow the instructions given in the instructions for use of a specific tachometer. Before adjusting the speed of the crankshaft of the engine idling, first correctly adjust the valve clearances, ignition (timing angle, spark plugs) should operate normally. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, and check that the air damper is fully open. Disconnect the cooling fan connector, turn off all power consumers and the secondary air conditioner (if installed). On models with automatic transmission, set the gear lever in position ?N?, and apply the parking brake.

Start up the engine and compare tachometer readings at idle with the specified technical data. The adjustment is made by turning the screw adjustment of the speed of the crankshaft of the engine idling (Fig. 2.12). To adjust the quality of the fuel mixture at idle exhaust gas analyzer is required (Level Meter CO). Plug it in and let the engine idle. Compare the CO content in the exhaust gases to the value given in the technical data. The adjustment is made by turning the screw of adjustment of quality-fuel mixture (see. Fig. 2.12). If the screw of adjustment of quality fuel mixture covered with a protective cap to access the screw, remove the lid. If the composition of the fuel-air mixture at idle is adjusted correctly, re-check the speed of the crankshaft of the engine at idle and, if necessary, adjust it. Stop the engine, remove the analyzer and connect to the radiator fan.
