Check and replacement of hoses

A WARNING
The replacement hoses air conditioning system should be carried out at the service station, the equipment for system depressurization.

The high temperature in the engine compartment causes deterioration of rubber and plastic hoses. Periodic inspection should help detect cracks, loose, local hardening and leakage.

Damage radiator hose
Fig. 2.11. Damage radiator hose a - hardened area; b - softened seats; with - hardening; d - swollen or oil-soaked area of the hose

Check hoses for hardened areas, which can lead to costly repairs of the engine (Fig. 2.11).
"Softness" of the hose indicates the inner wear, which can contaminate the cooling system and clog the radiator.
Hard hose may collapse at any time. Tightening the clamps attaching the hose to the rigid pipe will not provide a tight seal and stop the flow.
Swollen hose or hose ends with oil indicate a possible leak in the lubrication system.

Vacuum hoses
Leak in a vacuum hose means that air is sucked into the hose (instead of leaves a hose), and it does leak very difficult for detection.
The detection method is to use the old vacuum hose as a kind of a stethoscope. Hold one end of the hose close to the ear (but not in the ear), and the other end use to survey the areas around the suspected leak. When the hose end will be directly over the leak, through a hose will be clearly audible hissing sound. It is necessary to avoid contact to hot and moving details as the test must be carried out with the engine running.

A WARNING
In the study of vacuum hose stethoscope be careful - do not let your body contact or hoses with mobile elements of the engine, such as belts, fans, etc.

Fuel hoses
Fuel supply system is under pressure, therefore before a detachment of pipelines it is necessary to reduce the pressure in the system.

WARNINGS
Gasoline is extremely flammable, so when you work with elements of fuel supply is forbidden the use of fire, sparking devices open by fire-dangerous light devices and smoking. Avoid sparking when working with cables and electrical devices.
Since gasoline is a carcinogen, it is necessary to exclude them from getting to the body and paint the car. Otherwise, you need to immediately wash it with soap and water.

Check all rubber fuel hoses for wear and abrasions. Be particularly careful to check the space in front inflection hose clamps in the connection hose to the fuel pump, the fuel filter and the carburetor.
To replace the need to use high quality fuel, which are identified by an inscription ?Ruroelastomer? on the hose. In no case can not be used for the replacement of fuel a vacuum hose, plastic tube or purified water hose.
Usually for fixing the fuel nozzles used in the spring clips, which will eventually lose their elasticity, and can also "otpruzhinit" when removed. So every time you replace the hose is recommended to replace all the spring clips on the screw.

Metal pipes
Sections of metal tubing are frequently used as the fuel line between the fuel pump and the carburetor. Make sure that the tube is not bent or corrugated, and that there is no schism in the bends.
To replace a segment of the metal fuel should only use seamless steel pipe as copper or aluminum tube can not withstand vibration during engine operation.
Check metal brake lines in places of their accession to the master cylinder and the pressure regulator (if used) for cracks in the tubes or loose connections. Any signs of brake fluid leaks indicate the need for immediate and full inspection of the braking system.
