The engine capacity of 2.2 / 2.5 L

High oil consumption is an indicator of deterioration valve stem seals. The caps can be removed and installed in the cylinder head. But this requires a compressed air and pusher arm support device, for example, Mercedes-111 589 015 900 111 589 186 100 605 589 006 300 604 589 006 and 300. If there is no such tool, when replacing the caps need to remove the cylinder head .

Withdrawal
A warning

If items control valve will be re-used, they must be installed in its place. To avoid confusion, fabricate a special panel to store them.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove camshafts.
2. Remove the crankcase the camshaft.
3. Remove the nozzles.
4. Remove the sheath for a set of wires of the engine at the front of the body.
5. Screw the support webs with moving parts of the pusher lever to the cylinder head. You can use the crankcase bolts camshaft (M7h42).
6. Using a wrench with a nozzle set corresponding cylinder piston to TDC. 4-cylinder engine: the situation in TDC pulley Piston 1 and 4 are at TDC. At 180 ? coincidence marks the pulley with the mark on the crankcase at TDC are Piston 3 and 4.
7. 5-cylinder engine: the TDC pulley is in the dead point the piston cylinder 1. After the rotation of the crankshaft by an angle of 144 ?, respectively, to set the piston TDC of the next cylinder in sequence (1-2-4-5-3) .
Note: it is possible, for example, put on a pulley four additional tags respectively in the region of 72 ?. After replacing the valve stem seals 1st cylinder rotate the crankshaft until the mark 2 will not be opposite the mark on the crankcase. When the piston cylinder 2 is established in TDC. Replace the valve stem seals 2nd cylinder. Then scroll down to the level of the engine (4). Now the piston at TDC would 4th cylinder. Thus it is possible to set sequentially pistons at TDC.
8. TDC corresponding cylinder can also be installed using an electrode wire. To do this, thread the electrode wire into the hole injector 2 (2 cylinder piston is on the TDC). With an assistant slowly scroll through the crankshaft in the direction of its rotation and observe the wire during rotation. Once the wire takes the highest position, set the piston at TDC.
A warning

When you rotate the crankshaft holding high the control circuit so that it is not jammed.

9. Hook the pusher lever (9).
10. Lock the crankshaft, which set the first gear and apply the parking brake.
11. In the compression chamber of the cylinder is pressurized at least 5 bar (about 5 atm.). For this purpose screw a connector hose (4) instrument leak test cylinder with connecting piece Mercedes-604 589 006 300 in the pre-chamber (nozzle hole).
12. A compressed air hose is maintained constant overpressure in the cylinder, at least 5 bar.
13. Install the pressure piece (5) of the pusher lever (9) on a plate valve spring. Align the pressure plate and the movable parts in parallel. Fix the movable part with the bolt (8).
14. Remove the valve spring.
A warning

Valve springs, do not remove without the use of compressed air, otherwise you may have damage to the valve and piston.

15. Remove the valve stem with the details of the valve stem (14) with a pair of tweezers or a magnet.
16. Remove the valve plate (15) and a valve spring (17).
17. Remove the valve stem cap from the valve stem (16) with a special pliers (03), for example, HAZET 791-6.

A warning

Do not damage the valve stem and valve guide!

18. Remove the lower spring plate (20) and check for damage, replace if necessary.
19. If necessary, strip the groove rod with fine emery cloth.
20. Check the valve guides wear in caps fit for them. If you do not provide a tight fit valve stem seals, replace their guides (job for the garage).

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Replace with new molded parts of the valve stem and the valve spring plate.
2. The directional valve with cranky rings on stem seals need to be replaced (work to the repair shop).
3. Oil the cap (16) of the valve stem and manually insert with mounting mandrel (04).
4. Install the spring and the valve plate and compress the valve spring.
5. Set the details of the valve stem and valve spring unclench.
6. In the same way, replace the caps on the rods other valves.
7. Drain the compressed air.
8. Install the camshafts.
9. Install the nozzles.
10. Install camshaft housing.
11. Secure the wire sheath on the motor bulkhead.
