Permanent monitoring of the lighting device

Regularly check the installation of headlights on your car, for example in front of inspection. In addition, check the condition of the lighting before each trip.
All lighting devices have to work
To do this, turn the ignition switch and turn on the marker, and dipped beam, and fog lamps. Behind the car must perform well rear lights, license plate light bulb and rear fog lights. The car must always be set to replace the lamp.

Spare parts bulb must always be in the vehicle. It contains not only the most important replacement lamps and fuses
Fig. 9.16. Spare parts bulb must always be in the vehicle. It contains not only the most important replacement lamps and fuses

The car should be the next set of spare bulbs (Fig. 9.16):
- H7 halogen bulb, 55 watts (low and high beam);
- Halogen H1, 55 W (fog lamp);
- Halogen H, 6 W (position / parking light);
- Round lamp or P PY, 21 watts (front and rear turn signal bulb with white or yellow);
- Round light P 21 W (reversing light, rear fog lights);
- Round lamp P 21/4 W (brake light, position / parking lights);
- Round lamp R, 5 W (rear light, parking light);
- Soffit lamp, 5 W (lights license plate);
- Soffit lamps with 10 watts (lighting interior, trunk);
- LED (exterior mirrors, an additional signal of braking).
Accessories - dipped-beam headlamps with gas-discharge (xenon) lamps

Xenon lamps are Lifetime car. If necessary, replacement should be performed in the workshop, since because of the contacts under high stress and danger of explosion independent replacement is difficult

The latest and currently working out the best in lighting technology - with gas-discharge headlamps (xenon) lamps in the case of quartz glass (Fig. 9.17). The light source is xenon gas and particles of various metal salts. Electronic power switching ignites the mixture with a short pulse voltage of up to 28 000, is formed between the electrodes arc discharge lamps. It replaces the spiral filament, which was used until now.
The advantage of such lamps is that the consumption of energy power of 35 W xenon lamp shines twice as bright halogen incandescent lamp of 55 watts. It has a longer life. Replacement of gas discharge lamps is possible, but usually this is not necessary. Xenon lamps are Lifetime car. If necessary, replace a bulb in the workshop.
Another advantage is the pleasant glow of the lamp, as close to daylight. This ensures a better and brighter illumination of the road ahead and to the side, especially when cornering lighting and adjoining roads.

Technical Dictionary
LDR
According to legislative norms of the headlights of a car in a loaded condition should be adjusted so that it does not dazzle oncoming vehicles.
Halogen light. On E-Class models with halogen headlights LDR regulated three-way control on the dashboard. To do this, each lamp is equipped with a pneumatic mechanism corrector that when the position controller operates by the vacuum generated in the intake cycle of the engine. The controller supplies the negative pressure to the equalizer between 0.4 bar ("0") and 0.05 bar (position "3"), thus determining its course.
Light Xenon lamps. Since the risk of blinding oncoming traffic light from the xenon headlights is particularly high, lights, depending on the load the vehicle is automatically regulated.

The operating principle of the system LDR headlights
Fig. 9.18. The operating principle of the system LDR range: 1 - a vacuum hose from the intake pipe or a vacuum distributor; 2 - the distributor; 3 - a vacuum regulator next to the light switch; 4 - Right-leveling mechanism; 5 - left-leveling mechanism; 6 - connector

The sensors on the front and rear axles define each change in position of a vehicle relative to a horizontal axis and transfer the information to the control unit headlight leveling range (Fig. 9.18). The block is located under the rear seat. Current position range is defined in the control unit due to the potentiometer, set-leveling mechanisms. The control unit sends a command to change the position of headlamps with delay from the time when changing the position of the vehicle may take a while.
Control device serviceability of lamps
Incandescent lamps, exterior lighting for close, side light, rear light and braking signals are controlled by the device. If the fuse of a particular lamp warning lamp that lights up as long as the consumer is switched on. If the fuse lamp lights brake light warning lamp lights up before turning off the ignition.
The control device detects a violation in a particular circuit, if it is too small current flows. At higher current, for example when the trailer, this does not lead to false positives.
