Installation of a camshaft

Engine M 110

Tighten the bolt of the camshaft (the engine M 110)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Set in front of the bearing housing of the camshaft.
  2. Install the thrust washers on the front end of the camshaft bearing grease and insert shafts with the rear of the housing.
  3. Replace the back cover housing with new gaskets, insert and tighten the screws.
  4. Clean the mating surface of the casing of a camshaft and the cylinder head and the gasket on the cylinder head.
  5. Lower camshaft casing on the head and then dip the bolts in the engine oil and insert them into place with the washers.
  6. Tighten the bolts in three stages to the specified points in the reverse order to that shown in the figure. Ensure free rotation of the two camshafts. Put the gear and cam follower.

Engine M 123

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the tube supplying oil to the camshaft bearings has been removed, fit it into place and tighten the bolts.
  2. Lubricate the bearings supports and insert the camshaft from the rear of the engine.
  3. Install the support pins on the head and insert the bolts.
  4. Tighten bolts to the specified torque, moving from the center to the edges, then slightly loosen the head bolts and tighten them to the specified torque, again moving from the center to the edges.
  5. Check the free rotation of the shaft. If it is turned with difficulty, it means the bolts are tightened unevenly and tightness should be repeated.
  6. Install the thrust washer on the front end of the camshaft.
  7. If the engine is by car, set the camshaft sprocket.
  8. Turning the engine or the camshaft, each in turn, move the cam into a position in which its projection facing up, then dip the cam follower in the oil and put it in place, pressing the valve lever down. Install the retaining spring on the collar and pull it to the valve tappet with a screwdriver.
  9. Keep in mind that the valve clearances should be adjusted after installation of the cylinder head, otherwise they will decrease after the bolts head.
  10. With the probe plate, make sure that the axial displacement of the camshaft corresponds to the technical data.
