Caring for the components of the body and underbody

It should be remembered that the main factor determining the selling price of a used car is the state of his body. Facials, body panels is extremely easy, but should be done on a regular basis. Neglect of the smallest mechanical damage and paint defects can lead to the rapid development of corrosion and the need to perform expensive body repair. It is also important to regularly check the condition hidden from view surfaces and parts, such as wheel arches, the lower part of the engine compartment bulkhead, etc.

The basic treatments for the car body is its sink, preferably with plenty of water, pressurized hose. Enough powerful jet easily softens and knocks dried mud and that it is important to avoid damage to paintwork in friction of individual grains of sand on it, and other abrasive particles. Do not forget to wash and wheel arches and underbody bearing elements. Oddly enough, the best time to perform the cleaning of the suspension and underbody is damp, rainy weather, when most of the accumulated deposits of mud washed off automatically while driving. Try not to miss the opportunity and take this opportunity to make an external inspection of the components located under the car.

Once a year, or every 20 000 km (12,000 miles) is necessary to make inspection of the car undercoating. Previously should be subjected to the bottom of the car, including the engine room, steam cleaning, during which especially well removed multilayer oil deposits, sticky sludge and thick mud. If the possibility of using the steam cleaning is absent, with a brush to be treated surface to be cleaned with one of a plurality of components currently produced solvents. Note: The last method should not be used on cars, undercoating having a wax base. This annual vehicle inspection must be carried out before the start of the winter season after a good soaking mud and oil deposits in conditions of high humidity, typical for the fall season. Damaged anti-corrosion coating must be restored without delay. Ideally, once a year should be made full anticorrosive processing of the car in which the protective structure is injected into the cavity of the door panels, sills, box sections bearing body elements and other available volumes. Note: The latter does not apply to panels and sections, subjected to a complete anti-corrosion treatment, and sealed at the factory.

Fully flush dirt from the paint, then wipe the surface with a soft suede body panels, restoring the original luster polishing. Surface treatment containing wax polish provides additional protection paint weatherproof and allows you to restore the lost polishing locally. Remember, fading paint is most often associated with a dismissive attitude to the regular car wash.

The wax polishing body panels should be done about once a year. Paints such as "metallic" need special care with the use of special non-abrasive polish. Try to regularly check the patency of the drainage and ventilation holes body panels. Do not forget from time to time to wipe the glass using a special cleaning agent from the surface by removing road film. In no case do not use for the treatment of glass containing wax polishes or means to take care of chrome trim elements.
