Check and replace the crankshaft position sensor (CKP)
On models since 1995 Vol. two sensors TFR, one sensor (REF) set in front of the power unit, on an aluminum section sump directly beneath the crankshaft pulley. And serves to determine the number of slots of the rotary encoder crankshaft pulley with respect to the TDC position of the piston of each cylinder (signal 120 ?). A second sensor (POS) is also located on the aluminum section of the pallet, but the rear side of the power unit, near the dome of the transmission and is used to determine shaft speed (signal 1 ?). Both sensors consist of a permanent magnet, core and wire windings. Changing the gap entails a change in the parameters of the magnetic field in the vicinity of the sensor, which in turn leads to a change in the amplitude of the sensor outputted to the PCM signal voltage. PCM uses coming from the sensor information when the TFR adjustments setting the ignition timing, fuel injection timing and the detection of misfires.
CHECK Sensor CKP REF | Disconnect the connector of the sensor wiring and connect an ohmmeter to the connection terminals. At 20 ? C the desired resistance is 470 ÷ 570 ohms. Faulty sensor must be replaced. If the result corresponds to the nominal requirements, refer to the connection diagrams (see chap. Onboard electric equipment) and check for proper condition on the circuit wiring between the sensor and the PCM. Make sure of absence of a violation of the quality of ground black wire harness sensor. If no violations can not be identified, the car should be driven away on a car repair shop to diagnose the state of the PCM and perform the proper reconditioning. |

CKP sensor POS | 1. Disconnect the sensor wiring. Turn on the ignition. make sure there is battery voltage at the terminal of the red wire connector from the harness. If no voltage, check the wiring on the circuit between the relay ECCS and battery (do not forget to first check the fuse box). Check the status of the relay ECCS and wiring coming from a sensor (see. The wiring diagram at the end of the Head the Onboard electric equipment). Verify the presence of voltage amplitude of 5.0 V at terminal white wires. If the voltage is missing, check the condition of the chain on a site between the PCM and the sensor. At serviceable chain you drive to a service station to diagnose the state of the PCM and perform the proper reconditioning. Also make sure there are no signs of violation of the quality of ground black wire harness. 2. Remove the sensor. Turn the ignition off and connect it to the sensor wiring. Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the terminal black wire to the back of the connector (see chapter Onboard electric equipment). The negative probe to ground to ground. Turn on the ignition. Momentarily touch the spout sensor metal object (such as a screwdriver). At the moment of contact of the voltmeter should register a reading of 5.0 V. At abduction metal signal amplitude should fall rapidly to zero. Faulty sensor must be replaced. Note: In rare cases, the reason for the introduction of the DTC can be a violation of the integrity of the flywheel / drive disk. |

REPLACEMENT | 1. Disconnect the sensor wiring. 2. Remove the retaining bolt and remove the gauge. Installation is in the reverse order. |
