Check and replace the vehicle speed sensor (VSS)

VSS is mounted on transmission housing and a sensor with variable reluctance. The sensor generates a sinusoidal AC signal whose frequency is proportional to the vehicle speed. Information comes from VSS uses RSM to manage the length of time of opening of injectors fuel injection and transmission shifting. In addition, VSS is used as a drive of a speedometer. Sensor Failure leads to record in memory OBD relevant DTC.

CHECK

PERFORMANCE ORDER

The correct functioning of VSS can be checked on the adequacy of the speedometer.

1. Remove the VSS with the transmission housing.

2. Connect a voltmeter to the two terminals of the sensor and switch the meter to AC voltage measurement. Start manually rotate the drive gear sensor - voltmeter should register a signal amplitude of approximately 0.5 V.

3. In the absence of the signal voltage sensor must be replaced.
4. If the positive results of the above test, check for open wiring on the circuit between the connector and VSS dash (see. The wiring diagram at the end of the Head the Onboard electric equipment). If the wiring in the order, drive to a workshop to diagnose the PCM and perform the proper reconditioning.

REPLACEMENT

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Poddomkratte car and establish it on props.
2. Disconnect the speed sensor wiring.

3. Having turned out a coupling bolt, loosen the clamp and remove the VSS of the transmission.

4. Check the condition of the O-ring sensor, in case of need make replacement.

5. Install in the reverse order.
