Check of serviceability of functioning of system of injection

See. Warning at the beginning of Section Dropping the pressure in the fuel system.

Pre-make sure of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator (see. Section Check of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump, the fuel pressure measurement).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check for loose electrical connections, particularly the ground terminal of the injection circuit. Inspect all related to the functioning of the electrical connectors. Violation of the quality of the electrical contacts entails many problems and is the cause of more than half of the engine failure.
2. Check the battery level. Precise control the composition of air-fuel mixture to a large extent depends on the serviceability of functioning of PCM and information gauges defined, including, and the voltage level of the power.
3. Check the air filter element - even partial impaired patency of the air filter has a significant impact on fuel economy and efficiency of return of the engine (see. Chapter Settings and maintenance).
4. Check the appropriate fuses. If the pump fuse is blown, replace it with a new one. If the new fuse also immediately fails, check the wiring circuit for signs of a short-circuit (see chap. Onboard electric equipment).
5. Check the condition connected to the intake manifold vacuum hoses.
6. Disconnect the air hose from the throttle body and the last check for the presence of carbon formation and other deposits (particularly in the vicinity of the throttle). In case of signs of contamination throttle body, refer to the materials of Chapter 6 and make a fault diagnosis systems, PCV and EGR.

In these models the throttle body is treated with special protective composition, which is washed away by using various kinds of solvents and liquids for cleaning carburetors, - the use of such funds may reduce the effectiveness of return of the engine.

7. With the engine running alternately listen with a stethoscope each of the injectors injection - even clicking of evidence of serviceability of functioning of the injector. In the absence of a stethoscope on hand, use a long screwdriver by simply pressing the tip of her sting to the body of the injector and being guided by the vibration transmitted through the handle.

8. In identifying violations of the functioning of the injector should use a special lamp-probe (ask in shops of automobile accessories). The lamp is connected to an electric socket suspect injector. Start the engine and check in using the lamp all the injectors. Uniform flashing lamp confirms serviceability of functioning of the injector. Otherwise, the car should be driven away on a car repair shop for more detailed diagnostics.

9. Stop the engine, disunite electric sockets injectors and measure the electrical resistance of each of them). Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications. If necessary, replace the failed node.

10. Additional information on the diagnosis of the injection system is in Chapter Engine management.
