The power supply system includes a fuel tank placed therein electric fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator (close to the pump), the main relay EFI, the fuel pump relay (relay open circuit), the fuel line to the injection injectors, an air cleaner assembly and the throttle body. All are described in this manual models are equipped with electronic fuel injection system.

Distributed injection

In the considered system to control fuel injection through injectors directly into the intake port of each of the combustion chambers of the engine used electrical impulses clearly limited duration. The moment and the duration of the opening time of each injector control module controls the operation of the power unit (PCM). PCM continuously monitors various engine operating parameters and on the basis of incoming information determines the required amount of injected into each of the inlet ports of the fuel. Throttle body in this case only serves to control the supply of air to the supply system. Because each of the cylinders is equipped with its own injector, this scheme allows very precise control of the composition of the air-fuel mixture.

The fuel pump and gasoline pipe lines

The fuel supply from the gas tank to the injection system and the return of its surplus back in a petrol tank is carried out on two metal lines laid under the bottom of the car. Submersible electric fuel pump located inside the fuel tank and combined into a single assembly unit with flow sensor fuel. Fuel vapor return system shall discharge fuel vapor back into the tank through a separate return line.

The fuel pump relay consists of two windings (primary and secondary). The functioning of the primary circuit controls the PCM, power to the secondary circuit is fed directly from the battery through the ignition switch. With the ignition on (do not start the engine) PCM provides 5-second relay is energized. At the moment of turning the engine PCM energizes the relay as long as the camshaft position sensor will not give the appropriate signal (see chap. Engine management). In the absence of reference pulses for five seconds fuel pump is shut off.

On California models, 1995 vol., As well as on all models 1996 and 1997 Vol. is provided, the operation control unit of the fuel pump. The module provides power supply loss of the pump, in all cases, when the engine is running without load. The module is located in the luggage compartment under the left combination lamp assembly. Reduction resistor included in the wiring harness in the vicinity of the module.

Exhaust

The exhaust system consists of exhaust manifold, front exhaust pipe equipped with an oxygen sensor, catalytic converter (s), the muffler and exhaust pipe. On models since 1995 Vol. There are two primary oxygen sensor, two heated catalytic converter and a secondary oxygen sensor.

Catalytic converters are the main components of emission control (see chap. Engine management systems control engine).
