Replacing spark plugs

Proper functioning of spark plugs - one of the most important conditions for the effective operation of the engine. It is necessary that on the engine spark plugs were installed only the specified type. With proper cleaning of the engine spark plugs - a rare operation.

All engines

Visual inspection of the working part of spark plugs can reveal the condition of the engine. If the nasal part of an insulator of spark plugs pure and white, without a touch it testifies to too poor mix. It also specifies that the candle too hot, that is warmly from the central electrode is taken away slowly. If so, it is necessary to adjust the composition of the fuel mixture or replace the spark.

If the nose of the insulator is covered by black touch, it indicates that the mixture is too rich. If plaque is black and oily it testifies to deterioration of the motor and the need to check and repair. If the nose of the insulator is covered by light brown touch the mix structure is optimum also the engine is in good condition.

Spark plug electrode gap is important because if too much and too small a size of a spark gap is changed, resulting in reduced engine performance. The gap must always conform to the specifications.

Backlash check is carried out by a wire template (see. Fig. Measuring the gap of the spark plug wire template) or the probe (see. Fig. Measuring spark plug gap feeler gauge). The adjustment of the gap is carried podgibaniem side electrode. The central electrode in no case can not be bent, as this may cause damage to the insulator and a candle exit out of operation.

For podgibaniem side electrode spark necessary to use a special tool (see. Fig. Tools required for unscrewing the spark plug and adjust the electrode gap).

Before installing a spark plug in the engine, check that the thread was clean and all the threads of the entire thread.

Screw in spark plugs by hand and then tighten to torque.

Connect the spark plugs high-voltage wires.

The engine 1,4-I

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Using pliers or a special tool HAZET 1849, remove the tips of high-voltage wires from spark plugs.
2. Clear candles, using a brush, vacuum cleaner or a jet of compressed air that will exclude dirt hit in cylinders of the engine after removing the spark plugs. Unscrew candles using candle key.

Engine 1,6-I

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Using a screwdriver blade, remove the cap covering the screws securing the top casing of the engine. Unscrew the nuts and remove the top casing of the engine (the arrows indicate the location of the screws (A) securing the top casing).
2. Using the blade of a screwdriver, remove the cap covering the screws holding the second casing of the engine. Unscrew the nuts (arrows) and remove a second engine cover.
3. Using pliers or a special tool HAZET 1849, remove the lugs (arrows) of high-voltage wires from spark plugs.
4. Clean the spark, using a brush, vacuum cleaner or a jet of compressed air that will exclude dirt hit in cylinders of the engine after removing the spark plugs. Unscrew candles using candle key.

The engine 1,8-I

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew the nuts and remove the top casing of the engine.
2. Remove the screws (1) securing the ignition coil (2).
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coil and remove the ignition coil from spark.
4. Clean the spark, using a brush, vacuum cleaner or a jet of compressed air that will exclude dirt hit in cylinders of the engine after removing the spark plugs. Unscrew candles using candle key.

Engines 2,3-I (5 cylinders)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Open the hood.
2. Label the high-voltage wires in figures and remove the tips of high-voltage wires from spark plugs.
3. Clear candles, using a brush, vacuum cleaner or a jet of compressed air that will exclude dirt hit in cylinders of the engine after removing the spark plugs. Unscrew candles using candle key.
