Removal and installation of the timing belt and timing gears

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Loosen the nuts of the right front wheel. Cock a lay brake and prop up the rear wheel chock.
3. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
4. Remove the right front wheel and the arch of his locker protection (see chap. Body).
5. Remove all drive belts (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
6. Remove the crankcase and empty the cooling system (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
7. Remove the spark plug (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). Bring the piston of the first cylinder in position TDC (see. Section Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in position of the top dead center (TDC)).
8. Remove the radiator and overflow hoses from the thermostat housing. Remove the water pump pulley.

9. Remove the intermediate roller belt compressor K / V with his arm.

10. Remove the crankshaft pulley (see. Section Removal and installation of the crankshaft pulley).

Do not twist crankshaft pulley during dismantling, as this would lead to the conclusion of the TDC engine.

11. Release the wiring and hoses from clamps on the top cover of the timing belt.

12. Remove the guide pins of the crankshaft timing belt, then turn out bolts top and bottom covers of the belt. Note en the fact that covers are used for mounting screws of various sizes that the assembly must be screwed strictly on the former places - put on the head of a bolt marked accordingly.

13. Make sure that the first cylinder is in the TDC - marks on the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft must be properly aligned with the mating pointers.

14. Releasing the half-turn lock nut and deploying tensioner 70 ÷ 80 degrees clockwise, loosen the tension of the timing belt.

15. Check the belt for marking on it to indicate the direction of its orientation when mounted on the engine. If necessary, apply appropriate marking yourself using chalk or paint.

This requirement makes sense only if the old belt will not be replaced. Remove the belt from the timing gears and inspect for cracks, signs of wear, traces of pollution by oil or coolant. If necessary, replace a belt. Please rate the degree of deterioration of the tensioner assembly with spring, make sure the smooth rotation of the roller.

16. Assess the gears, - in the case of signs of excessive wear or mechanical damage, replace the wheel.

The need to dismantle the gears occurs only in case of damage, as well as to provide access to other components, such as the replacement of the cylinder heads, oil pump, crankshaft oil seal front or back cover of the timing belt.

17. Having passed the screwdriver into the hole in the camshaft gear and secure it against rotation and release the fixing bolt.

18. Once the bolt is unscrewed, the gear has to withdraw from the shaft journal manually.

The gears of the left and right camshafts are not interchangeable and are labeled appropriately labeled.

19. Description of the procedures for replacing the crankshaft gear resulted in Section Replacement of a forward epiploon of a cranked shaft.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the new belt made of their dimension-type corresponds to the requirements of the characteristics of the engine of your car. In the new belt is usually provided for three markings is white, the presence of which would greatly simplify the components and aligning fit their relative timing marks.

Also make sure that the geometry of the teeth of the belt structure corresponds to the timing gears. On some models, the early years of release lower edges of the grooves between the teeth of the wheels may be rectangular, others are skrugleny.- belt teeth must have the appropriate form. Violation of this requirement leads to an increase in background noise during engine operation and premature wear of the belt.

2. If removed tensioner, set him in his place, having tracked correctness of spring planting. Get ready for the installation of the belt, which expand the tensioner clockwise with the help of bar key. Temporarily fix the tensioner in this position by tightening the lock nut.

3. Following the correctness of combination of adjusting labels, fling belt on the timing gears. Moving counter-clockwise, and trying not to leave slack, first put the belt on the wheel of the crankshaft, then fling him to the wheel of the left (front) of the camshaft, and then pull it to the right wheel (rear) of the camshaft. In conclusion, under the Head of the belt tensioner pulley.

4. Manually select the slack of the belt tensioner side, then loosen the nut of the last assembly, and expand by 70 ÷ 80 degrees counterclockwise. Tighten the lock nut. Make sure of correctness of combination of all three sets of adjusting labels, as well as the fact that the belt is put forward in the correct direction.

5. Slowly rotate the crankshaft clockwise two full turns in the conclusion again returned to the position TDC.

Excessive resistance to turning of the shaft indicates that the pistons come into contact with the valves and, before continuing rotation of the shaft, should return to the starting position and make an appropriate adjustment to the TDC.

6. Tight (with a force of about 10 kgf) pressing belt in the area right in the middle between the gears camshafts, measure the value of its trough. Required value must be between 13 and 15 mm.

7. If the amount of deflection is within the permissible range, the tension of the belt can be considered adjusted correctly, otherwise, loosen the lock nut tensioner and make an appropriate adjustment (see. Below).

When adjusting the belt tension is not superfluous will help assistant.

8. Start the probe blade thickness 0.35 mm gap between the belt and tensioner pulley in accordance with the scheme shown in the illustration, - to draw the probe under the belt slowly rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

9. Tightly clutching the blade tensioner probe by means of bar wrench, tighten the lock nut.
10. provernuv crankshaft, release the blade of the probe from the belt, and then rotate the shaft on for full two turns, in conclusion, he returned to the position TDC.
11. Ensure the correct belt tension adjustment.

If efforts to achieve the desired tension of used belt fails, should be made to replace it.

12. Install the remaining components is made in the reverse order of their removal.
