Removing and installing cylinder head

Before starting work, wait until the final cooling of the engine.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Drain the cooling system, including the engine block (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). Remove the gas distribution belt, sprockets and timing belt rear cover (see. Section Removal and installation of the timing belt and timing gears). Also, remove the bolts tubes cooling path to the back of each of the cylinder heads (from the transmission) on the end plates of camshafts.
2. Remove the inlet pipeline (see. Section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline) and move towards the injectors injection wiring connected to them.
3. Remove the rocker arm assembly (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of rocker arm assembly), and valve tappets (see. Section Removal and installation of camshafts and valve lifters).
4. Remove the exhaust manifolds (see. Section Removal and installation of final collectors).
5. Label and disconnect all hoses and wires extending from facing the timing side of the power unit.

Front head (the part of the radiator)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the spark plug, remove the distributor and coil (see chap. Electric motor).
2. Remove the bracket from your air conditioning compressor and move it to the side without disconnecting the refrigerator line (see chap. System of cooling, heating). Tie up the compressor wire so that the hose lines are not refrigerated appeared strained.

Access to the upper bolts of the compressor is opened only after the removal of the assembly to the side.

3. Remove an arm of the compressor and the generator.
4. Remove the bracket to the cylinder head of the guide tube of the probe.

Rear head (the part of the engine compartment bulkhead)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Disconnect from facing the transmission side of the cylinder head of the heating hoses tract and brackets.

Both heads

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. In a few tricks (by 1/4 of a turn for the approach), loosen head bolts so that there was the possibility of a reversing them manually. Proceed in the reverse order shown in the illustration, and starting with small screws located on the outer side of the head.

2. Remove planted under the bolt head washers. All bolts, except for the above-mentioned small to be replaced on a mandatory basis.

Washers can be used repeatedly.

3. Remove the cylinder head to the engine block. If necessary, they Tap the hammer through a wooden block. If you need to poddevanii "become attached" head arm, try not to damage the mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the old cylinder head gasket. The mating surface of the head and the block should be absolutely clean and dry.

2. Scrape off the remains of gasket material structure and coal deposits, wipe the surface with a cloth soaked in acetone. Availability mating surfaces traces of oil at the time the head can cause leakage landing pads and as a consequence, the development of leaks. The processing unit, plug the hole with a cloth cylinder to avoid the ingress of debris and a variety of foreign objects (at least, thoroughly vacuum the cylinders).
3. Inspect the mating surfaces of heads and the block on presence of deep scratches, burrs and other damage. Light defects can be eliminated by using fine sandpaper. In more serious cases, the only alternative is a groove components or replace them.
4. Run the appropriate size of the tap threaded holes for bolts heads. Iterative runs are finished, blow out the holes with compressed air. Alternately clamping screws in the grip of the head, walk on their thread chaser - the presence of the threads of old sealant, dirt and corrosion products leads to a mismatch of real effort of a tightening of fixture to the indicator torque wrench.

When working with zhatym air do not forget to wear safety goggles!

5. Place the new gaskets, putting them on the guide pins in the block.

6. Trying to shift the pad, gently plant head on the block.
7. Coat the threads and under the heads of new attachment bolts with pure impellent oil. Screw the fasteners into place and tighten the screws by hand.

Do not forget to put a washer under the bolt head. Stacked washer equipped beveled side up, and the plane - to the head.

8. Operating in strictly certain order, tighten the bolts of the cylinder heads with demanded effort (all except the smallest external).

Bolts 4, 5, 12 and 13 are longer than the others!

9. Tighten small screws (one on the outer side of each of the heads) with a force of 9 ÷ 12 Nm.
10. Further assemblage is carried out in the reverse order of dismantle of components.
11. Do not forget to fill the cooling system and replace the engine oil and oil filter (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
12. Start the engine and check for any signs of leakage of oil and coolant. Rate the correct installation of the ignition timing (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
