Check and replacement of the timing belt

Do not crank the engine for the camshafts and other gears timing! If the contrary is specifically stated otherwise, crank the engine should only be done in the normal direction! Do not turn a cranked / distributive shaft at the removed timing belt! Remember to follow purity - dirt or grease on the new gas distribution belt in any case is not admissible! Do not twist the new belt and bend it at sharp angles! If you install a used belt, make sure that the direction of rotation remains the same!

All models

Replacing the timing belt should be carried out not less than specified in the schedule of routine car maintenance period (see. Section routine maintenance schedule), and in case of signs of excessive wear or mechanical damage, - when viewed twist ribbon belt and do not bend it under sharp angles.

Checking the timing belt

A - Open the tape - check the fit and condition of the sealing elements of the timing cover, replace the belt, paying special attention to the correct installation
V - destruction / loss of teeth - replace the belt
C - Traces of wear / cracks - replace the belt

D - One-sided wear - replace the belt
E - Noticeable wear teeth - replace the belt
F - Do not twist or bend the belt during the inspection

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Cock a lay brake and disconnect the wire from the battery.

HF - Crankshaft

P - Interim video
N - tensioner
BH - Water Pump

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. In order to facilitate cranking remove the spark plug.
  2. Drain the cooling system (see. Section Checking the oil level).
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt (see chap. Engine).
  4. Remove the cooling fan with mounting bracket (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  5. Remove the thermostat housing (1).
  6. Remove the retaining bolt (2) and remove the pulley (3) of the crankshaft.
  7. Remove the upper (4) and lower (5) the timing cover.
  8. Provernuv the crankshaft in the normal direction, bring the piston of the first cylinder in position of the TDC, - track correctness of the position adjusting labels (6 and 7).
  9. Remove the guide plate (8) of the crankshaft gear.
  10. Loosen the bolt (9), take off the belt tensioning pulley belt, then re-tighten the bolt slightly.
  11. Remove the timing belt tensioner.
  12. Assess the tension and the intermediate rollers. Defective components replace.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure the correct position of adjusting labels (6 and 7).
  2. Since the camshaft gear and moving in a counterclockwise direction, get a new belt on the regular place, - track density planting belt on the gears.
  3. Loosen the screw (9) of the tensioning roller and turn the crankshaft two full turns in a clockwise direction - make sure that the timing marks (6 and 7) in the correct position, otherwise repeat the belt.
  4. Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction so that the label ?S? on the gear wheel of a final camshaft is aligned with the mark (10).
  5. Tighten the screw (9) of the tension roller with demanded effort (37 ÷ 52 Nm).
  6. Click on the upper arm strap (arrow) with a force of about 10 kgf, - the value of deflection of the tape should reach 7.5 ÷ 8.5 mm.
  7. The further installation is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components. Tightening torque of bolts (2) of the crankshaft pulley 12 ÷ 17 Nm.
  8. Finally, do not forget to refill the cooling system (see. Section Checking the oil level).

3 - The impeller of the cooling fan with a drive pulley
4 - belt compressor K / V (with appropriate equipment)
5 - belt tensioner K / V with mounting bracket

6 - alternator drive belt
7 - crankshaft pulley
8 - The right timing cover
9 - Left timing cover (turn the crankshaft so that the piston of the first cylinder in the position TDC)
10 - tensioner timing belt with a spring
11 - Timing belt

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Drain the cooling system (see. Section Checking the oil level).
  2. The procedure for removal of the timing belt dismantle the components as shown in the numbering.
  1. Remove the tensioner components and evaluate their condition. Check the condition and quiet rotation of the roller, make sure there are no signs of abating / tension spring. Defective components replace.

Do not wash the tensioner assembly of any solvents. If necessary, wipe the contaminated surfaces with a soft cloth.

  1. Make sure there are no signs of excessive wear or mechanical damage to the timing gears. Defective components replace.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Get proper arrangement of adjusting labels of cogwheels cranked and camshafts.
  1. Install the tensioner bolt and its retaining spring to a position corresponding to the minimum belt force. Take the way to the left tensioner and tightening the locking bolt, temporarily secure it in this position.
  1. Put the belt on the gears, and then release the locking bolt tensioner, allowing the spring clip to press tightly against the smooth side of the webbing.
  2. Double cranked shaft in the normal direction (clockwise) to align the belt force. Tighten the retaining bolt tensioner with demanded effort (31.4 ÷ 46.1 Nm).
  1. Make sure of correctness of combination of adjusting labels of cogwheels cranked / camshafts and injection pump drive, and then check the belt tension by pressing on the side arm of the belt with a force of about 10 kgf, - the value of deflection of the tape should reach 10.8 ÷ 12.9 mm.
  1. The further installation is made in the reverse order of the dismantling of the components - track correctness of planting rubber sealing elements covers timing. Remember to follow the requirements of Specifications of the Head Current leaving and service to the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners.
  2. Finally, make filling the cooling system (see. Section Checking the oil level).
