Check idle speed

All models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Cock a lay brake, start the engine, warm it up to normal operating temperature and leave it running at idle.
  2. Turn off all power consumers onboard.

Petrol models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Idle speed can be checked by one of three ways:
    • Open the diagnostic connector (DLC), mounted on the air cleaner housing in the left rear corner of the engine compartment of the car, and connect the terminal connector IG positive wire tachometer non-inductive type;
    • Remove the decorative cover of the engine and connect the inductive-type tachometer to one of the spark plug wire;
    • Connect to the DLC in the engine compartment of a special scanner and selecting the appropriate menu item read the required information.
  1. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications of the Head Current leaving and service.
  2. Setting the idling speed is produced engine control module (ECM), and the adjustment can not be. Based on the analysis of information from the speed sensor crankshaft (CKP), ECM provides the appropriate commands to the solenoid valve of stabilization of turns of idling (IAC), ensuring the maintenance of idling engine speed at a constant level regardless of changes in engine load, defined by state the latter (the heated / not heated) and the activation of various types of consumer board (steering pump, compressor K / V, etc.). To check the serviceability of functioning of the IAC valve disconnect the electrical wiring - Turnover should rise to a value of about 1,000 per minute, otherwise it is necessary to check the proper condition of the valve by measuring the resistance of its coil (see. Section systems of electric motor in Chapter Power supply systems, motor control / emission control and exhaust).

Diesel models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The reason for deviation from the idle speed setpoint can be a violation of serviceability of functioning injectors that in this situation should be cleaned and calibrated. The service life of nozzles is unlimited, but in excess mileage of the car 100 000 km probability of failure increases, - implementation of procedures of repair and calibration of nozzles should be entrusted to specialists Car.
  2. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
  1. Connect the tachometer and read his testimony.

The tachometer can be also connected to the terminals of the diagnostic socket DLC.

  1. Compare result of measurement to the desired value, if necessary, make appropriate adjustment (see. Power supply systems, engine control / emission control and exhaust).
