Adjusting backlash Bearing Kit

Cars up to 9/89 MY. and all models are "universal" (not AWD)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Change the position of the disc relative to the hub wheel to balance the wheel could be established in former position.
  2. Loosen the wheel nuts standing on the ground of the car.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Remove the wheel.
  5. Remove the hub cap using a screwdriver, without damaging it in the process.
  1. Fold the folded collar nut to nut can be rotated.
  1. Unscrew the nut of a nave and replaced by a new one.

The hub nut on the left side of the vehicle has a left-hand thread, it is necessary to loosen rotate to the right (clockwise).

  1. Screw the hub nut by hand until it will not fit. Then tighten the nut with torque wrench with a force of 25 Nm.

Rotate when tightening the nut brake drum, not to catch bearing.

  1. Several times turn the hub to properly villages bearing.
  1. Slightly loosen the hub nut, until it is rotated by hand.
  1. The method of adjustment without dynamometer: again slightly tighten the hub nut, turning the wheel hub at the same time. Brake drum should rotate easily, but should not be felt appreciable lateral play. If there is a backlash, check it with a micrometer dial. See Section Checking the bearing hub.
  1. In workshops MAZDA bearing is adjusted as follows. (In practice, some experience sufficient adjustment to that described above):
    • When weakened hub bearing mounted on one of the bolts of the wheel dynamometer at a right angle.
    • Pull the dynamometer until the hub starts to rotate. Force when the hub starts to rotate depends on the gland. Remove and record the readings.
    • Slowly tighten the nut the hub while rotating the hub until it reaches the correct tension. The required value is 2.6 - 8.5 N. To this must be added pre-measured resistance gland.
    • When correctly adjusted the bearing torque at which the hub starts to rotate, 0.15 - 0.49 Nm.
  1. To hammer in a nut fillet into a nave groove pins are not very sharp chisel. This serves to protect against loosening nut.
  1. Score the new hub cap using a tube.

Deformed caps necessarily replaced because of a leak in the bearing can get the moisture and destroy it in the short term.

  1. Screw wheel, taking into account the markings on the hub. Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise with torque of 100 Nm.
