Wheel alignment
Optimal quality of movement and lowest tire wear can only be achieved with proper installation of the front wheels. If abnormal tire wear, with poor road holding - in poor areas of maintaining, as well as poor handling on turns - should go to the shop to check the car optically. Wheel alignment is impossible without special instruments. We restrict ourselves to the description required for the measurement of the basic concepts. Toe / camber / caster transverse wheel / pitch wheel axis of rotation (coasting) Under the convergence refers to the lateral distance between the wheels. Front wheels usually have to have a positive toe, as the wheels due to the collapse and rolling resistance diverge slightly outward as the hub bearing, wheel suspension and tie rods are loose. The positive convergence means the desire to compensate for a run to the outside front wheel. With positive toe set so that by measuring the height of the midpoint on the front wheels are located closer to each other than behind. The collapse of the transverse axis tilt and rotate the wheel reduce the transfer of road shocks on the steering and maintain the lowest friction during cornering. The collapse - is the angle at which the surface of the wheel deviates from the vertical control. The front wheels are so inclined, in negative camber, for example, the wheels at the fixing points are spaced further apart than at the top. The transverse inclination of the axis of rotation wheel - the angle beta between the axis tilt knuckle and the vertical passing through the fixing point wheels looking in the longitudinal direction. Due to the collapse of the angles and transverse axis tilt rotation point of contact with the road wheels are located closer to the axis of the steering knuckle. This is supported by the lowest so-called shoulder running. The smaller kingpin offset, the easier management. Also hitting the road have a weaker effect on the steering. The longitudinal inclination of the axis of rotation of a wheel (coasting) - is the angle between the axis of the knuckle and the vertical attachment at the wheel, looking in the transverse direction of the vehicle. Coast has a significant impact on the movement of the wheels in a straight line. Too small run-down causes a deviation from a predetermined direction when driving on bad streets or in crosswinds and allows you to return the steering wheel when cornering to the starting position. On the other hand high strength control stick out increases. Coast, camber and cross-caster wheels on the MAZDA 323 can only be checked, they are not subject to regulation. If the measured values are outside the tolerance limits, suspension parts are damaged or worn. Adjustment To check the wheel alignment is required viewing pit or lift platform. At each measurement must satisfy the following conditions. - The prescribed tire pressure
- The car is not loaded and fully fueled.
- Car pre-strong swing
- The steering wheel in the middle position.
| - The absence of rods steering unacceptable backlash (maximum of steering wheel on the outer edge of 30 mm)
|
- Absence of unacceptable play in the wheel suspension
- The vertical and lateral runout of the wheels shall not exceed 2, 0 mm.
- The difference in height between the left and right sides of the vehicle, measured on the edge of the wing, should not be greater than 10 mm.
