  2. Replacing the rubber back support: Unscrew the nut -7-, remove the washer and nut.
  3. Insert the new plug and washer, align perpendicular to the arm. Tighten the nut with a force of a rubber support 110 Nm.
  1. Replacing the front rubber support: Cut off the lug rubber sleeve. Then squeeze the sleeve in a vice with the help of sockets and a suitable pipe. In workshops MAZDA tube is used instead of a special device.

If the sleeve is extruded not, it should be heated, and an incision along the outer contour for reducing stress.

  1. Moisten with a small amount of the new plug soap solution and drive the front side with the help of a special device.
  1. Set wishbone, see chap. Suspension and steering system.

Check / replacement of the ball joint

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Ball joint (= ball joint between the wishbone and steering knuckle) should be replaced if there is a noticeable backlash, or if the damaged cuff.
  2. Check the setup state: Raise the vehicle.
  3. Move the lower lever arm up and down. Ball joint should not have a significant backlash. Accurate inspection is only possible in the removed state.
  4. Unscrew the nut and bolt -6-.
  1. Squeeze the ball joint of the thumb knuckle using the mount. Lay fabric not to damage the cuff.
  1. Remove the bolts on the steering knuckle and remove control arm ball stud.
  1. Set the dynamometer or a torque wrench with an appropriate mount. Turn the ball pin. To take readings of the efforts to overcome the frictional force. Required value: from 1.8 to 3 1 Nm, otherwise replace the ball joint.
  1. Replacement Cuff: Tighten the ball joint in a vice and knock off the cuff hammer and chisel.

Be careful not to have been damaged ball joint.

  1. Coat the inside of the cuff a small amount of a universal lubricant and drive suitable tube. In workshops MAZDA used for this special device.
  1. Screw the knuckle to the cross arm 2 bolts to 110 Nm.
  2. Insert the ball stud in the knuckle, insert a bolt from front to back, and tightened to 60 Nm.
  3. Measure and adjust the wheel alignment.
