Check and adjustment of backlashes of valves

To perform this procedure, you need a special tool - ask in shops of automobile accessories.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Remove the cylinder head cover (see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers).
3. On models with Manual transmission cock a lay brake and select neutral gear.
4. Remove the spark plug (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
5. Bring the piston of the first cylinder in position TDC, - track correctness of combination of adjusting labels (see. Section Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in position of the top dead center (TDC)).
6. Measure the clearance corresponding valves. Record measurements and compare them with the requirements of the Specifications. Mark valves, gaps which are outside the acceptable range.

7. Turn the crankshaft in the normal direction (clockwise) 240 ? in order to bring the piston to TDC of the third cylinder and measure the valve clearances of the next set.

8. Rotate the shaft a further 240 ? (TDC 5-cylinder), and check the clearances remaining valves.

9. When you have finished measuring, rotate the crankshaft pulley so that the cam drive to be the first of the adjustment valve turned up lobes (on the pusher).

10. Expand the shim hole in the central part of the cylinder head casting. Install special tongs so that their upper lips covered her cheek cam shaft and the lower rested on top of the washer. Squeeze the handle of forceps and expand the tool away from the camshaft, pressing the plunger. Pass the sting of the second special tool into the gap between the edge of the pusher and camshaft, and then release the plunger. To remove the shim, you can use a pair of tweezers (lift washers screwdriver) or magnetized rod.

Feeding compressed air into the hole in the washer will remove it.

11. Measure the thickness of the washer is removed using a micrometer or vernier scale of calipers fitted (see. Accompanying illustration). To calculate the thickness of a new washer, which must be installed on the plunger in order to adjust valve clearance according to the following formula:

Intake valves are: N = R (M - 0.30 mm)
The exhaust valves N = R (M - 0.33 mm)

Where:

R - The thickness of the old washers in millimeters
M - Measured in millimeters, valve clearance
N - new washer thickness in millimeters

12. Pick up a new washer, such that the thickness as close as possible consistent with the desired value. Issued washer 64 with a step size of 0.01 mm in the range from 2.32 mm to 2.95 mm.

Previous pusher of one valve washer may come as a new gap to adjust the other - make the appropriate calculations before you go for new washers.

13. Acting in a manner similar to that described in paragraph 10, alternately install the new valve tappets corresponding picked up the puck.
14. Ensure correct adjustment of valve clearance (See above.), If necessary, make a re-recruitment goals.
15. The assembly head is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components.
