Replacing valve stem seals and valve springs with plates

Replace broken springs and worn valve stem seals can be done without dismantling the cylinder head. It took only two special tools and a source of compressed air. Before starting any work, make sure there is at hand is a powerful tool for squeezing tight valve springs used for the assembly of motor vehicles of the models considered.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the upper section of the inlet pipeline (see. Section Removal and installation of the inlet pipeline) and lid (s) of the head (s) of cylinders (see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers).
2. Remove the timing chain (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of a chain and sprocket timing). Remove the camshafts and valve lifters (see. Section Removal and installation of camshafts and valve lifters).
3. Remove the spark plugs of the cylinders, the components of which need to be checked. If there is a need to replace the valve stem seals, turn out all the candles.
4. having turned the crankshaft, bring piston to the corresponding position TDC (see. Section Reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in position of the top dead center (TDC)). When replacing the valve stem seals, start with the first cylinder, then move from one to another in the order of ignition (see. Specifications).
5. Screw in the spark plug hole corresponding to the cylinder length of the transition nozzle and connect it to the hose from the compressed air source.

Because the guide tube has a sufficiently large spark length would require a special transition nozzle for the connection of compressed air. Available special nozzle connector Fast connection - ask in shops of automobile accessories.

6. Blow air into the cylinder.

Under the pressure of the air piston can file down, leading to a sudden cranking - do not leave on the bolt screwed into the pin shaft socket wrench with which resulted in the piston TDC. The valves are held in place by air pressure.

7. In order to avoid falling into the engine debris and other foreign bodies, plug the holes in the cloth all around the block serviceable valves. Now, using a special tool compress a spring valve serviced. Using tweezers or a magnetized rod, remove from the grooves on the valve stem crackers cutting lock.

If we fix the valve in the closed position, the compressed air can not, therefore, a violation of integrity, defined by the presence of mechanical defects of a working facet of the valve plate or seat. In this case, the cylinder head must be removed from the engine to comply with the reconditioning.

8. Remove the valve stem with the spring plate and the spring itself, and then remove the guide sleeve valve stem seal.
9. Attach the upper end of the valve stem rubber band or wind the tape, to avoid the possibility of falling into the combustion chamber of the valve, then shut off the air in the cylinder.
10. Check the valve stem for signs of wear or mechanical damage. Turn the valve inside the guide bush, vote the radial play his butt off, determines the degree of straightness of the rod (curved valve must be replaced).
11. Move the valve up and down in the guide sleeve, trying to identify the sticking point, the presence of which indicates either a deformation of the valve stem or the sleeve of the damage - in any case the head to be peeled in order to fulfill the necessary regenerative repair.
12. The air is again supplied to the cylinder in order to fix the valve. Remove the rubber band from the rod / scotch.

13. Lubricate the valve stem clean motor oil and install a new valve stem seal.

Available special mandrel for planting caps on the sleeve, however, in this case, is perfect and deep end head of the appropriate size. Zastukivanie cap is produced through the mandrel hammer.

14. Put on the valve stem with the valve spring (end with a short pitch turns to the head).
15. Put on a plate spring, then compress the spring by means of special tools and tuck neatly into the seat groove on the valve stem crackers cutting lock. For temporary fixing of crackers to release the tool, lubricate them with grease inside.
16. Watching seated properly in the groove of crackers, release device for compressing the spring.
17. Shut off the air in the cylinder and remove the spark plug hole of the adapter nozzle.
18. Reinstall the camshafts and valve lifters (see. Section Removal and installation of camshafts and valve lifters). Install the timing chain (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of a chain and sprocket timing).
19. Install the cylinder head cover (see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers).
20. Reinstall the spark plugs, coils and the upper section of the inlet pipeline (see. The relevant sections of this Part of this Chapter).
21. Start the engine and check for signs of oil leaks and unusual noises emitted by the valve mechanism.
