Removal and installation of camshafts and valve lifters



Before removing the camshaft from the cylinder head should measure the axial play of their landing.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Remove the cylinder head cover (see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head covers).
3. Remove the chain and sprocket timing (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of a chain and sprocket timing).
4. Mark the camshaft bearing caps. Moving in the reverse order shown in the illustration, 2 ÷ 3 reception loosen the cover bolts.

5. Remove the bearing cap and remove the cylinder head camshafts.

Fold taken cover in an organized manner - in the assembly must be installed strictly on the former situation. Note the presence of the identification mark on the shafts.

6. Remove the cylinder head assembly pushers mounted with shims.

Fold extracted from the engine tappets in an organized manner - in the assembly must be placed strictly on the former places.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Install the valve lifters assembled with shims strictly on the former places.
2. Lubricate cams and bearing neck camshafts molybdenum-containing lubricant.

3. Start the shafts to their former place in the respective cylinder heads and expand their guide pin upwards and parallel to the row of cylinders.

4. Apply RTV sealant to the mating surface of the first bearing caps.

5. Install the bearing cap, screw and tighten the screws at the hands of their attachment.

6. Moving in strict order, in several stages, tighten bolts of covers of bearings with demanded effort.

7. Replace the timing components (chain and sprocket) (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of a chain and sprocket timing). By blocking the camshafts from turning open-end wrench, tighten with demanded effort bolts Stars.
8. The further installation is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components. If replacement valve train components, perform the check and adjust the valve clearances (see. Section Check and adjustment of backlashes of valves).
