1. The mating surface of the head and the block should be absolutely clean and dry. | 2. Scrape off the remains of gasket material structure and coal deposits, wipe the surface with a cloth soaked in acetone. Availability mating surfaces traces of oil at the time the head can cause leakage landing pads and as a consequence - the development of leaks. The processing unit, plug the hole with a cloth cylinder to avoid the ingress of debris and a variety of foreign objects (at least, thoroughly vacuum the cylinders). |
3. Inspect the mating surfaces of a head and the block on presence of deep scratches, burrs and other damage. Light defects can be eliminated by using fine sandpaper. In more serious cases, the only alternative is a groove components or replace them. 4. Run the appropriate size of the tap threaded holes for bolts heads. Iterative runs are finished, blow out the holes with compressed air. | When working with zhatym air do not forget to wear safety goggles! |
| 5. Please rate the degree of stretching the fixing bolts. If the difference in diameter measured at these points is greater than 0.11 mm, corresponding to the bolt to be replaced. Alternately clamping fit for further use of the bolts in the vice of the head, walk on their thread chaser - the presence of the threads of old sealant, dirt and corrosion products leads to a mismatch of real effort of a tightening of fixture to the indicator torque wrench. |
6. Evaluate the degree of flatness of the head (see. Part of the total overhaul of the engine in this chapter). Check also interfaced with the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold surface. 7. Establish on a head shot with her external components. 8. Clean the rear cover and the timing of its fastening screws from the traces of old sealant | 9. In accordance with this scheme apply to the mating surface of the cover fresh sealant RTV. Include in the appropriate landing slot at the front side of the block the new O-rings. Putting on the guide pins, push the back cover of the timing to the surface of the block and cylinder heads, and then moving in strict order, screw and tighten fixing bolts with demanded effort. |

10. Put in the head of the camshafts and valve lifters (see. Section Removal and installation of camshafts and valve lifters). Install the timing chain (see. Section Removal, check of a condition and installation of a chain and sprocket timing). Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of dismantle of components. 11. If in the course of service heads were replaced valve train components, adjust valve clearance (see. Section Check and adjustment of backlashes of valves). 12. Do not forget to fill the cooling system and replace the engine oil and oil filter (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). 13. Start the engine and check for any signs of leakage of oil and coolant. Rate the correct installation of the ignition timing (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). |
