Check of levels of liquids

Various liquids play the role of the working bodies in the lubrication systems, cooling, heating and air conditioning, braking, washing windows, etc. Because all of the liquid over time subject to liquefaction and generation, as well as during normal functioning of the system is gradually contaminated, it is necessary to periodically replace them full. Before proceeding to the adjustment level or replaced, check the list of recommended for use in the vehicle sorts of liquids.

If the fluid level check the vehicle must be parked on level ground as possible with a firm covering.

Engine oil

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Checking the motor oil is made by means of the probe, threaded into the guide tube and falls to the bottom of the engine in its crankcase sump. On all models, the probe is situated in front of the power unit.

2. Check the oil level should be done before the first day of the current trip, or after at least 5 minutes after stopping the engine. If you run the test immediately after turning off the engine, the results are not adequately reflect the situation as part of the oil will be distributed on internal engine components and galleries.

3. Remove the dipstick from guide tube and wipe it dry with a clean cloth or a blade with a paper towel. Insert the dipstick back into the tube until it stops, then remove again. After examining the blade of the probe, evaluate the value of oil-wetted area. The oil level should be between the upper and lower marks on the blade of the probe. If necessary, add the appropriate amount of engine oil grades required.

4. To raise the level of the lower (MIN) marks on the dipstick up to the top (MAX) requires about one liter of oil. Lowering the level of the lower border allowable range leads to the development of oil starvation of engine, and is fraught with serious mechanical damage to the latter. Try not to pour oil above the top mark as this can lead to thrown at the spark plug or failure of seals of the power unit as a result of excessive pressure.

5. To pour the oil in the engine must be removed equipped with threaded filler cap. In order to avoid oil spray during filling into the engine, use a funnel or oil can with a long spout. Gulf oil, screw and tighten the oil filler cap, and then start the engine and inspect for signs of leakage drain plug and mating with the surface of the oil filter unit. Stop the engine, wait a about 5 minutes, during which the oil drains into the tray, and then recheck the level.

6. Check the engine oil level is the important preventive procedure of maintenance of the engine. Continuous reduction indicates the presence of oil leaks as a result of failure of the seals, damaged seals, wear of piston rings or valve guides. If the oil is in color or consistency like milk or are present in a drop of water, this indicates possible damage to the cylinder head gasket, or the formation of cracks in the body of the head (s) or block. The check should be made without delay. During the measurement of level of oil, always check its condition. Thumb and index finger to remove the blade probe traces of oil - in the case of the presence therein of small metal particles oil must be replaced (see. Section Replacement of impellent oil and the oil filter).

Engine coolant

Do not suppose antifreeze hit on open sites of a body and the painted surfaces of the vehicle. Casual splashes immediately wash off with plenty of water. Remember that antifreeze is highly toxic liquid and its hit in an organism even in small amounts is fraught with the most serious consequences, including death. Never leave antifreeze stored in leaky closed container, immediately collect spilled on the floor coolant. Remember that the sweetish smell of antifreeze can draw the attention of children and pets. About disposal of used coolant, consult with local authorities, -.vo many regions of the world special points on any reception of working off. In no case do not drain the old coolant down the drain and to the ground!

Recently developed non-toxic antifreeze grade, however, they must be disposed of in an organized manner.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. All are described in this manual car models are equipped with a cooling system of compensation type, operating at a positive pressure. Made of translucent plastic coolant expansion tank is located in the engine compartment and the overflow hose is connected with the base of the filler neck of the radiator. If overheating of the engine coolant expands, and its excess flows through the valve mounted in the filler cap on the radiator expansion tank. As the cooling liquid is returned through a hose back into the radiator, which allows you to keep in its normal level in the system.

In no case do not remove the cap from the filler neck of the radiator when the engine is hot!

2. The coolant level in the expansion tank is checked on a regular basis and must be between the LOW and FULL on the translucent walls of the tank. It should be remembered that the level of a liquid depends on its temperature, so cold it should be just above the bottom mark, and after the engine has warmed up - to rise to the level of FULL. If necessary, make an appropriate adjustment, refilling the reservoir through the neck of the required quantity of fresh mixture.

To adjust the level of the liquid, use only the required composition of the mixture of ethylene glycol and distilled water (about 50/50). Keep in mind that frequent use for this purpose a simple water leads to a gradual dilution of a mixture of antifreeze and utrachivaniyu its cold resistance and anti-corrosion properties. We should not abuse the various types of additives and additives.

3. The constant decline in the coolant usually indicates the development of leaks in the system. Check for signs of leakage radiator, connecting hoses, filler cap, drain plug and the water pump housing (see. Section Checking the status of the components of the cooling system). If no signs of leakage can not be identified, should be tested radiator cap pressure in the workshop car service.

In no case do not remove cap from radiator / expansion tank when the engine is hot!

4. If necessary, remove the radiator cap wait full cooling of the engine, and then wrap the neck with a thick layer of rags and slowly unscrew the cap to the first stop. If the steam is released, let the engine cool off a bit, but then finally remove the cover.
5. In addition, always check the level and condition of the coolant - it should be relatively transparent. If the cooling liquid is painted in a reddish-brown color of rust, the cooling system should be emptied, rinsed and filled with fresh mixture of antifreeze and water. Even if the liquid is not exposed to any external changes, its member corrosion inhibitors over time exposed to develop, so the coolant should be changed on a regular basis in accordance with the schedule of routine maintenance of the car (see. Section routine maintenance schedule Maxima cars Nissan).
6. Try to avoid contact with anti-freeze to exposed skin or painted surfaces of body components. Casual splashes immediately wash off with plenty of water.

Liquid for washing of windshield

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Liquid for windscreen washer is filled in a special tank made of plastic, located on the right side of the motor compartment of the car, next to the expansion tank of the cooling system.
2. In the temperate regions as a liquid for washing of glasses can be used clean water, but do not fill the tank more than 2/3 to compensate for the expansion of water when it freezes during frost. When driving in severe climatic conditions must be poured into the tank only patented wipers providing corresponding decrease in the freezing point of the liquid.

Terms layout mixture is typically printed on the label pasted on the container. In no case do not apply to the addition to the liquid washing glasses used in the cooling system antifreeze, - the last aggressive to paintwork body panels!

3. In order to avoid frost glass when washing in cold weather, preheat it by blowing passed through a heat exchanger heating the air.

Electrolyte Battery

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Considered in the present Management are equipped cars Maintenance free sealed battery type in the body which provides only air vents. If during operation of the vehicle battery for some reason, has been replaced by a normal (maintained) should be from time to time to check the electrolyte level in its banks, which is necessary to remove the upper control / filler plugs. Pay particular attention should monitor the level of electrolyte in the warmer months. To correct the electrolyte level should use only distilled water.

Hydraulic fluid Brake and clutch

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The main brake cylinder (GTZ) is located in the upper left corner of the engine compartment of a vehicle and is secured to the servo brake servo. Hydraulic cylinder of coupling used on models with Manual transmission and is mounted adjacent to the GTZ directly on the rear bulkhead of the engine compartment.
2. The level of liquid inside the tank is easily visible through the translucent walls of the latter and must be maintained between the MIN and MAX. Please note that the clutch hydraulic path is sealed structure, and under normal conditions, to adjust the level of the fluid does not need (see chap. Coupling and power shafts).

3. If necessary, adjust the level of the liquid to thoroughly clean the tank and cover the relevant area around it with a clean cloth to prevent the ingress of dirt into the hydraulic system.
4. When pouring the liquid into the tank, take care that it is not sprayed the surrounding painted surfaces body elements. Was added to each of the systems only the liquid specified regulatory requirements varieties (see. Specifications in the beginning of this chapter), - mixing of two fluids of different kinds in any case inadmissible and can lead to failure of the corresponding system!

Brake fluid is highly chemically aggressive - do not let her in the eyes and on the painted surface of the body panels! Do not use the system to add to the hydraulic fluid, stood for more than one year, or kept in a tightly closed container. Remember that the brake fluid is very hygroscopic, ie has the ability to absorb moisture from the air, resulting in the efficiency of the brake system can be dangerous to go down!

5. At the level of corrections should also carefully check the condition of the fluid and the inner walls of the tank. In case of dirt deposits, solid foreign particles or droplets of water system must be emptied and filled with fresh hydraulic fluid (see. Chapter Brake System).
6. After the tank is filled to the desired level, tightly cover it on the plant.
7. Remember that the hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir GTZ as triggering friction brake pad is gradually lowered, but this decrease is always very small. If the liquid has to refill too often, therefore, the system has a leak, the source of which must be promptly identified and the cause is resolved, - inspect all brake lines and couplings, including calipers, wheel cylinders and servo servo (see . Section Checking braking system).
8. If the examination of the level of liquid in the GTZ revealed the fact that his tank is almost devastated, the braking system must be fully primed (see chap. Brake System).
