Cooling system (emptying, washing and refueling)
 | Do not suppose antifreeze hit on open sites of a body and the painted surfaces of the vehicle. Casual splashes immediately wash off with plenty of water. Remember that antifreeze is highly toxic liquid and its hit in an organism even in small amounts is fraught with the most serious consequences (including death). Never leave antifreeze stored in leaky closed container and immediately collect spilled on the floor coolant. Remember that the sweetish smell of antifreeze can draw the attention of children and pets. About disposal of used coolant, consult with local authorities. In many regions of the world special points on any reception of working off. In no case do not drain the old coolant down the drain and to the ground!

Regularly, according to the schedule of routine maintenance of the vehicle (see. Section routine maintenance schedule Maxima cars Nissan), the cooling system should be emptied, rinsed and filled with fresh mixture of antifreeze and water. This kind of service allows you to prevent the onset of corrosion in the cooling path and greatly increases the efficiency of the system. During the service is mandatory should also check the condition of all hoses and the radiator filler cap (see. Section Checking and replacing located in the engine compartment hoses). Defective components must be replaced. Do not forget about the precautions that should be observed when servicing the cooling system (see. The warning at the beginning of the section). |
Emptying
| 1. Cock a lay brake and prop up the wheel chock. To direct the implementation of maintenance procedures should be initiated only after the complete cooling of the engine, ie, several hours after the completion of travel.  | 2. Waiting for the final cooling of the engine, remove the cap from the filler neck of the radiator, get appropriate in terms of capacity under the drain valve located at the bottom of the radiator assembly. Pull on the hose fitting section of an inner diameter of about 9.5 mm, the second end lower in the drain capacitance (a hose is provided as standard on some models). Loosen the valve and drain the coolant into a container. |
 | 3. Upon completion of leaking coolant from the radiator to move the container under the drain hole of the cylinder (such holes are provided on each side of the power unit. Remove the plug and drain the fluid from the engine.  | If the plug eversion fluid comes out of the hole, clean it from corrosion a suitable screwdriver. |

4. While the liquid is discharged from the unit, check the condition of hoses and clamps of the cooling path of attachment (see. Section Checking and replacing located in the engine compartment hoses).
5. Replace damaged or defective components (see chap. System of cooling, heating). Screw into place and tighten the drain plugs. |

Flushing
| 1. Upon completion of draining the system, remove the engine thermostat (see chap. System of cooling, heating), remove it from the casing and install the latest back to his regular place of (empty). Now the system is ready for flushing.
2. Tighten the radiator drain valve, connect the lower radiator hose. Turn the control knob of the heating system to full hot interior to provide proper washing and heat exchanger heater.  | 3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose and insert the nozzle of the last planting a garden hose. Turn on the water and continue washing up until the top of the hose comes out clean clear stream. |
4. In cases of especially heavy contamination or violation of patency of the radiator, remove the latter (see chap. System of cooling, heating) and deliver it to the refurbishment and maintenance workshop in the service center. The corrosion products and dense deposits are removed from the path of the cooling system by chemical treatment, - follow the manufacturer's instructions the purchased detergent. | Regular washing of the procedures and the replacement of the coolant need for chemical treatment path should not occur. |
5. When you have finished washing, empty the radiator and drain the remaining water from the cylinder. |

Refueling
| 1. Restore initial connection of the radiator hoses and replace the thermostat.
2. Move the control handle passenger compartment heating system to full hot.
 | 3. Slowly pour in fresh radiator, drawn up in the required proportions (see. Specifications) a mixture of antifreeze and water. Continue to fill until the fluid level does not rise to the lower edge of the filler neck. Add cooling liquid in a broad tank, bringing its level to the bottom mark (FULL COLD). Wait five minutes and recheck the coolant level in the radiator, if necessary, make adjustments. | On models 1993 and 1994 Vol. for the release of caught in the cooling air path loosen specifically designed for this purpose, the plug on the engine block. When out of cork begins to flow the coolant, retighten it and modify the fluid level in the radiator. |

4. setting on the radiator cap, start the engine and warm it up to open the valve of the thermostat (liquid should start circulating through the radiator, thus there will be warming up the upper hose of the latter).
5. Stop the engine and let it cool. Fill the radiator a little more fluid, bringing its level to the lower edge of the filler neck.
6. By compressing the upper radiator hose release the air out of it, if necessary, add a little more coolant. Replace the radiator cap.
7. Move control handle passenger compartment heating system to full hot, turn on to maximum speed heater fan.
8. Start the engine, warm it up to normal operating temperature and check for signs of leaks. |
