Checking the status of the unit

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Pre-block must be thoroughly cleaned.
2. Visually inspect the unit to identify traces of corrosion, cracks and other damage. Check the condition of the threaded holes. It would be wise also to make unit testing for the presence of hidden cracks in the workshop Car with special diagnostic equipment. In the case of defects the unit is subject to regenerative repair or replacement.
3. Check the cylinder bores.

4. Estimate the value of having a place of taper and roundness of cylinders:

a) Measure the diameter of each of the cylinders at the top (directly below the boundary stepped wear), central and lower sections in the plane parallel to the axis of the crankshaft;
b) Now measure the diameters at the same three levels, but in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the block;
c) the amount of taper cylinder determines the difference between the results of measurements in the upper and lower sections. Ovality is the difference in the diameters of the parallel and perpendicular to the axis of the crankshaft in each of the planes.
d) compare the test results with the nominal values (see. Specifications).

5. Acting in the described manner, serially check all cylinders.
6. If any significant defects or deviation of measurement results from regulatory requirements, reducing the cylinder block to be machined in a workshop of car-care center. If in the process of repair was carried out bore cylinders, the engine must be fitted with new pistons corresponding repair (in excess of) size.
7. If the state of cylinder bores in the performance test results as satisfactory, while respecting the regulatory requirements for the form of cylinders and landing gaps pistons in them (see. Section Checking the components connecting rod and piston), the need for the cylinder bore is no longer - it will be enough just to perform honing their mirrors (see. Section Honing of cylinder bores).

8. Check the flatness of the mating surface of the head unit. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications, in case of need to give a block in the groove.
