Honing of cylinder bores



PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before assembling the engine shall be required honing of cylinder bores in order to achieve correct landing to them of piston rings providing a proper tightness of the combustion chambers.

In the absence of the necessary tools on hand or unwillingness to perform self-honing, work for quite moderate payment can be charged experts of a workshop car service.

2. Before honing, replace the crankshaft bearing caps / bridge connection (without loose leaves) and tighten fixing bolts with demanded effort.
3. Two types of Hons for processing of mirrors of cylinders: hon-type "bottle brush" and a more traditional, superficial hone a spring-loaded nozzle with grinding stones. Both tools provide necessary quality of processing of mirrors of cylinders though use of the first to the untrained mechanic preferable. It will also require a sufficient number of rags, or just a special honingovochnogo liquid machine oil, as well as electric as the drive for honingovochnyh baits. Proceed as follows:

a) Hold the chuck of an electric hon, reduce the spring-loaded grinding stones / rods their brush heads and fill last in the cylinder.

Do not forget to wear safety goggles or face shield!

b) drench mirror machined cylinder oil, include a drill and start to make a nozzle reciprocates within the cylinder. The speed of the vertical movement of khon must ensure application on the mirror surface of the cylinder mesh pattern with the angle of intersection of the mesh sides about 60 ?�. Do not spare the oil and try not to shoot from the surface of the cylinder walls more material than is really necessary to achieve the desired result. c) Do not remove hone the cylinder to a full stop of a drill! Continue reciprocating movement nozzle up until it stops rotating. After stopping the drill compress grinding stones and remove the cylinder from the hon. When using Hon type "bottle brush" wait until the drill, and then remove the nozzle, continuing to rotate manually a cartridge in a normal direction.
d) Wipe cloth cylinder bore honing and go to the next one.

4. After processing, use needle files for chamfering the upper edges of cylinders, - this treatment is carried out with a view that there were no difficulties with refueling in cylinders of pistons with wearing the rings. Be extremely careful - do not scratch the cylinder bore needle files.
5. In conclusion, the entire unit should be thoroughly washed with warm soapy water solution.

Cylinders can be considered washed when the mirror after the white cloth dampened with oil on it does not remain a gray plaque. Do not forget to clean a cylindrical brush all oil apertures and channels, then wash unit hosed water.

6. After washing carefully dry the block and grease the pierced surfaces with oil to protect them from corrosion. Prior to the assembly of the engine block, wrap in a clean plastic bag.
