Removing and installing engine



We should not forget that gasoline is extremely flammable liquid least! When working with the components of the power supply system, observe all taken measures of fire safety. Do not smoke, do not go near the place of work with open flames or unprotected moving the shade. Do not care system in the room, equipped by natural gas and fitted with a control torch heating devices (such as a water heater and clothes dryer). Do not forget that gasoline is among the carcinogenic substances that contribute to the development of cancer. Try to avoid contact with the fuel in the exposed areas of the body - use protective rubber gloves when unforeseen accidental contact wash your hands thoroughly with warm soapy water. Immediately collect the spilled fuel and lubricants do not stack soaked rags near open flames. Remember that the power supply system equipped with fuel injection models is constantly under pressure. Before you begin disconnecting fuel lines, dump residual pressure in the system (see chap. The power supply system and release). At service of components of the power supply system put on goggles. Always keep a fire extinguisher in the class!

Cars of the model equipped with SRS, which are the main component of the airbag. Before proceeding with any work near the location of the sensors directed overloads SRS, in the region of the steering column or dashboard, without fail disconnect system to avoid accidental triggering of the airbags, can cause serious injury.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Before proceeding with the procedure, carefully read the material of this Section. The manufacturer recommends removing the engine from the vehicle assembly to the transmission. The division of the power unit can be made later on the floor studio.

1. Relieve the pressure in the supply system (see chap. The power supply system and release).
2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

3. Cover the wings and vozduhootrazhatel under the windshield of the car with special protective covers, or just old blankets. Remove hood (see chap. Body).
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly (see chap. The power supply system and release).
5. Poddomkratte car and establish it on props. Drain the cooling system, drain the engine oil and remove the accessory drive belt (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).

6. Clearly label the engine and disconnect all vacuum lines, hoses, cooling and emission control, electrical connectors, earthing and gasoline pipe lines. Marking of wiring, lines and hoses is best done with the help of adhesive tape. It will be useful also to chart the construction of communications or perform a series of consecutive pictures.

7. Remove the cooling fans, disconnect the radiator hoses and heater hoses tract (see chap. System of cooling, heating).
8. After removing the cap from the filler neck, release the residual pressure in the fuel tank, then remove the gasoline pipe extending from the fuel line (see chap. The power supply system and release). Immediately plug the open ends of the pipes and couplings.
9. Otboltite and slide toward the air conditioning compressor without disconnecting from it refrigerated line.
10. Disconnect from the engine thrust of the accelerator, and with the appropriate vehicle equipment, as Tempostat cable (see chap. The power supply system and release).
11. Otboltite steering pump, slide it to the side and tie without disconnecting the hydraulic lines (see chap. Suspension and steering). Remove the generator (see chap. Electric motor).
12. In the SOHC engine, remove the ignition coil and the distributor connected to it with explosives wires (see chap. Electric motor).

13. Mark and disconnect from both sides of the main engine wiring harness braid.

14. Remove the top section of the intake pipe (see. Part Engines DOHC or Engines SOHC of this Chapter), - do not forget to mark all be disconnecting wires, hoses and tires ground.
15. Disconnect a reception pipe exhaust system from the engine exhaust manifold and catalytic converter and remove it from the vehicle (see chap. The power supply system and release).
16. Remove the drive shaft (see chap. Coupling and power shafts). Disconnect the transmission wiring and shift rod (see chap. Transmission).
17. Connect the lifting slings to the lifting rymam power unit, turn the winch, fully pick up the slack sling.

If the power unit is not equipped with lifting rymami, get the slings / chains for both cylinder heads. Post unit down completely support his suspension.

18. Make sure that nothing is left connected to the power unit and does not interfere with its extraction from the car.
19. Support the transmission trolley jack to load his head tucked under a piece of wood. Remove the mounting bolts to the engine and carrying the cross beam to the chassis (see. Part Engines DOHC or Engines SOHC of this chapter).

Take care of reliability of fixing the unit in a raised position.

20. Slowly lower the assembly of the power unit on the floor under the engine compartment of the vehicle.
21. Remove the lifting gear from the unit, peretsepite it on the car body, the last lift high enough and remove motor assembly from under the vehicle.

At this stage, it is wise to enlist the support of an assistant.

22. Separate the engine from the transmission (see chap. Transmission).
23. Install the engine compartment on the floor or remove a flywheel / drive plate and fix the assembly on the mounting stand.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check the power train supports. Defective components replace.
2. Manual transmission models, check the condition of the clutch components (right to replace the entire assembly) (see chap. Coupling and power shafts). On models with AT reassess the seals and bushings converter rotation. Grease lubrication of high temperature bearings (models with Manual transmission) / nose converter (AT model).
3. Carefully connect the transmission to the engine (see chap. Transmission).

In no event should not be used to attract the fixing bolts to the engine power transmission!

4. Screw the mounting bolts of the engine to the transmission and tighten them firmly.
5. Start the assembly of the power unit under the vehicle, lifting it on the jack to the proper level, then lower the image displayed on the winch the car body.
6. Peretsepite rigging to the unit and carefully post it in the engine compartment.
7. Support the engine reliability jack, then start a regular place in the crossbeam. Screw the fixing screws (beams and pillars) and tighten them with demanded effort.

8. Install the remaining components is made in the reverse order of their removal.
9. If necessary, add engine coolant, engine oil, liquid hydrostrengthening steering system and so on. (See chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
10. Start the engine and check for serviceability of functioning and signs of leakage, then stop and check the fluid levels.
