| Before proceeding with testing complete the corresponding electrical circuits. Remember that the power wires are usually thicker and brighter colored than the ground wire. Check for voltage at the terminals of the connector is made by testing their probe grounded lamp-probe (12 V). Turning the lamp confirms the presence of voltage at the terminals. If in the course of inspections described below to identify the cause of the fault fails, the car should be driven away on a car repair shop for more complete diagnosis. |
1. If the windshield wipers are working too slowly, first check the battery level (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). At serviceable battery, remove the drive motor (see. Below) and try to move the brush manually checking the freedom of their movement. If necessary, make appropriate repairs rods and lubricate the axle assembly. Install the motor in place, turn on the ignition and start the brush. If the speed of the wiper after the correction did not come back to normal, check the quality of contact connections and circuit connectors are properly locked, paying special attention to the state of the ground. When a working circuit, replace the electric motor.
| 2. In case of refusal wiper activation, check the condition of the corresponding fuse. If the fuse is OK, install the jumper wire between the ground terminal of the drive motor and the weight of the chassis. Repeat the test. If the wipers are now beginning to function normally, restore the reliability of the ground contact assemblies. If the engine still does not work, turn the wipers on the highest speed mode Check the power supply to the motor by probing voltmeter back side connector. Note: It is necessary to remove the cowl panel (see chap. Body). If power is supplied properly, remove the motor and check it by connecting directly to the battery. If the motor is connected to the battery is working properly, correct the cause of jamming the drive rod wiper, otherwise replace the motor assembly. If broken supply power to the motor, check the voltage at the wiper control relay. If power is supplied to the relay correctly, serviceability of functioning of the switch by means of an ohmmeter (see. Section Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the steering column switch). |
3. In case of violation of serviceability of functioning wiper interval mode, check the condition of the chain on a site between the switch and control module. If the wiring in order to measure the resistance on the control handle latency combined stalk (see. Section Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the steering column switch). 4. If brush stops in the position they occupy when the switch is OFF, check if the grounding of the electric motor connector (harness side). Connect an ohmmeter between any of the terminals and the black wire is securely grounded point of the chassis, - the resistance should be less than 5 ohms. 5. If you stop brushes only after switching off the ignition, disconnect the wiring from the switch of management of functioning of screen wipers. If we now stop the brush, replace the switch. If the brushes continue to function, thus terminating switch damaged motor - replace motor. 6. If the brush at a stop do not go by plane bonnet, check the traction drive for the presence of foreign objects under it. If nothing prevents the care of brushes in a parking position, check the wiring on the circuit between the switch and the motor. If there is no continuity, replace the motor. |
