Power windows - general data and check of serviceability of functioning

The control system consists of the operation of the windows control switches, relays, drive motors, controls, windows, lifting-lowering mechanisms of glasses and a connecting wiring. Electric motors drive the door windows are located inside the vehicle assemblies.

The windows can be carried out from the driver's seat using the main switch or by manipulation of individual door switch. Each of glasses equipped with a separate electric motor driving the reversible type. Switching keys changes the polarity of the motor and, consequently, the direction of rotation. Some systems use relays power supply to the electric motors.

The circuit is protected by a fuse and circuit breaker. Some models are available for individual protection of each of their own electric circuit breaker that prevents the possibility of disabling the entire system at jamming separate window.

Power windows operate only when ignition is switched on. In addition, many models have the ability to lock the rear windows (and sometimes the front passenger's) door with the main switch. Do not forget about this function when testing electric failures.

The described test are very general, so if their performance does not allow us to identify the cause of failure, drive away the car for more diagnostic workshop.

In case of refusal windows always first check the condition of the fuse and / or circuit breaker.

If the rear door windows are controlled only with the main switch, check the conductivity of a blocking switch in the released state. Replace the faulty switch.

Check the condition of the wiring on the circuit between the switches and mounting fuse block. Carry out the necessary repairs.

In case of refusal of functioning of the main switch is only one of the windows, check the operation of the power window switch on the individual. Note: This does not apply to the window driver's side door.

If the windows only works from one of the two radio buttons, check the functioning of the suspect switch (conductivity distribution).

If the switch is in order, check for open circuit and short circuit on the section between the respective switch and the electric motor drive of the window.

If the windows does not work on both switches, remove the panel from the interior trim of the door and check that the power switch on himself and on the drive motor controller (with a corresponding position of the switch).

At serviceable power is applied to separate the glass from the electric window regulator (see chap. Body) and move it up and down, checking the freedom of movement. Also, check the status of the controller. If the controller is normal, and the glass is free to move in both directions, replace the drive motor. If you violate the smoothness of movement of components eliminate interference detection, lubricate the friction components and replace damaged parts.

If the power is not supplied to the motor, check for conduction wiring on the circuit between the switches and motors (if necessary, refer to the connection diagrams at the end of this chapter). If the circuit is equipped with an actuating switch, check the powering and grounding of the latter. make sure to properly relay outputs a voltage to be included on the electric motor, if necessary, replace the relay.

After making the necessary corrections, recheck the operation windows.
