Removing and installing steering wheel



Before proceeding with any work near the airbag unit, steering column and instrument panel, disconnect SRS to avoid injury at its casual operation (see chap. 12). Wiring of chain SRS is easy for distinguishing on yellow color of isolation. To avoid damaging the system, SRS, Make sure that the steering shaft was not turned after removing the steering wheel. Lock the column with the ignition key in the straight position of the front wheels.

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect from the battery at first a negative wire, then positive.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action! Before embarking on the steering wheel is deified at least 10 minutes.

2. Bring the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.

3. Remove the small cover access hole in the side of the column cover and disconnect the wiring from the airbag module.

4. Having hooked a small screwdriver, remove the decorative cap screws securing the airbag module. The screws have a head of type TORX and covered with a special fixing structure, and therefore, when you install the module in place must be replaced without fail. Remove the airbag module of the hub of the steering wheel.

Avoid turning the airbag module face to itself, as its casual operation is fraught with major injury (see chap. Onboard electric equipment).

5. Give the nut of the steering wheel, and then mark the position of the latter relative to the hub of the steering shaft - such labeling may already have occurred.

6. Disconnect the wiring Tempostat.

7. Using a special puller, remove the wheel from the shaft of the steering column.

In no case do not bring down the wheel from the shaft with a hammer, after removing the wheels do not turn the steering shaft!

8. If necessary, check the status or replacing shift paddles remove spring contact assembly.

Whether because spring contact will be removed or not, duct tape, attach the central portion of its hub to the outer ring so as to completely eliminate the possibility of its rotation. Avoid turning the steering shaft when removing the steering wheel!

9. If necessary, remove the fastening screws, release the latch, disconnect the wiring and remove the spring assembly in contact with the steering column.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Make sure that the front wheels are set in the straight-ahead position. Turn the set on top of the steering column shaft spring contact of the airbag module in a clockwise direction before the feeling significant resistance, then return it to 2.5 turns in the opposite direction and achieve combination of two index marks.

2. Pass the wiring of the airbag module and speed control through the steering wheel and install the latest on the regular place. Ensure that the spring contact pins are properly entered into engagement with the mating holes in the rear of the hub of the steering wheel. Make sure of correctness of combination of landing labels.
3. Screw the fixing nut and tighten it with demanded effort.
4. Install the air bag module and fix its new bolts with heads of type TORX. Turn Tempostat and side covers of the column cover.
5. Connect the wiring harness to the airbag module. Install the bottom cover.
6. Make sure of serviceability of functioning of the airbag module, - when the ignition is switched on the instrument panel for approximately 7 seconds should illuminate the corresponding indicator lamp.

The models without airbag

REMOVAL

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
2. To remove the horn button to pry it from the bottom with a suitable tool and release from the assembly of the steering wheel.
3. Proceed in the manner described in paragraphs 5 to 7.

INSTALLATION

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installing the steering wheel horn ring lubricate moving and sliding contact portion of the return pin switch direction indicators multi-purpose grease.
2. Ensure that the steering wheel lock nut has been tightened with demanded effort.
3. Connect the wiring and replace the horn button assembly.
4. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
